Mother’s Day

Mother’s Day… a day for mom to put her feet up, relax, feel appreciated and most importantly, eat a really good meal that’s prepared by someone other than herself. This is my version of a nice Mother’s Day. I don’t need to be showered with gifts, although I really wouldn’t mind that either, if they absolutely insisted on it. Of course, I appreciate the handmade goodies that I’m presented with every year and usually wrap up the day feeling like all of my hard work has paid off. I’m wondering how you will celebrate Mother’s Day this year. Do you make reservations at a nice restaurant? Do you expect your husband to bring the kids out shopping for your gift or do they make you gifts from the heart? Do you plan your special day in advance or just go with the flow. Are you made to feel like you are queen for a day or are you still expected to carry on as if it’s just another day? Do you have a Mother’s Day tradition that is done year after year?

  1. I personally like to get breakfast in bed and then I go back to sleep until the late, late morning! My kids have always made me something and I love their perfect little gifts, but my husband goes and buys something from him as well. I think I am spoiled.

  2. We have a 3-yr old and a 7 mo-old who only eats if I’m holding the bottle. And we’re in the midst of moving my MIL here from out of state. So, needless to say, Mother’s Day this year will involve maybe cards and hugs, but life’s just too nutty this year for much more than that, realistically. I look forward to having more of a tradition around mom taking a “day off”, when the kids are a little older and more self-sufficient. The breakfast in bed tradition would be great eventually, especially if it turned into a long morning cuddle-fest.

  3. Is anyone going out of town for the weekend to celebrate? The more I think of it, the more appealing a secluded cabin in the woods sounds. Just me, the kids, the husband and dogs. Load up the car with board games, cards and essentials for the weekend. Any recommendations?
