Austin Ice Cream Festival- What a great festival for a city like Austin, Texas!! Bring the family (dogs are even welcome!!) for a day of fun with games, activities and contests… oh yeah, and ICE CREAM! $2/ Adults, kids 12 and under free. Saturday, 10:00am -7:00pm. Waterloo Park.
13th Annual Austin Home and Garden Show- Remodeling, building or buying… there’s something for everyone here, even the kids! Friday, 3:30pm join Staci Gray, an Austin-based children’s musician. Sunday, 4:00pm John Maverick the Magician will be entertaining the kids. Adults, $7.50. Children under 16 free. Friday, 2:00-7:00pm. Saturday, 10:00-7:00pm. Sunday, 11:00- 5:00pm. Second Saturday’s are for Families- Chill Out Art: Ice Cube Paintings. Visit the galleries to see how Sol LeWitt and other artists painted, drew, constructed and changed the basic shape of a cube. After you see how many cubes you can find in the exhibition, visit the Community Room to experiment with a different type of cube- an ice cube. Take some time to chill out, relax and create paintings using an ice cube as a paint brush. $7 per family or $5 for member families. Saturday, Noon- 4:00pm. Austin Museum of Art, 823 Congress Ave.
Austin Heritage Hunter- Curious Heritage Hunters can undertake four different self-guided hunts that explore the Lamar area, Barton Springs area, East Austin and The UT Campus. Participants will visit some of the most interesting historic and cultural sites of our city to seek out the answers to the hunt questions. Middle school age children are encouraged to participate. Kids who have completed the Heritage Hunt are invited to the City Council meeting on October 2nd to meet the mayor and receive a certificate. Must be completed by Saturday. Click here for maps. Zilker Summer Musical- This Saturday is your last chance to see Beauty and the Beast, by Zilker Theatre Productions. The show begins at 8:30 pm, admission is FREE!! with a $3 parking fee. Seussical The Musical- ZACH Theatre’s Performing Arts School presents Seussical — a FUNtastical, magical, musical extravaganza based on the books of Dr. Seuss — live on stage this summer!
