Deutschen Pfest- A festival to celebrate Pflugerville’s German heritage with live music, a carnival, food and beverages, vendors, parade, KidsK and a 5K run, and more. BookKids Storytime- Celebrating L. Frank Baum’s (the author of The Wizard of Oz) 153rd birthday, we’ll read If I Were a Lion along with other fantastical tales about lions, tigers and bears that will appeal to your brain and heart! Round Rock the Boat Regatta- Will they sink or swim? Contestants make their own cardboard boats and then compete to win the race. Race begins at Noon on Saturday, live music in the evening at 7:30pm by the Williamson County Symphony Orchestra. Old Settlers Park, Round Rock.
Splash Day- Family event offering free food, drinks, slides and water games to celebrate the start of summer and the re-opening of the outdoor pools and aquatic playscapes. FREE!! Saturday, 10:00am -1:00pm. Hays Communities YMCA, 465 Buda Sportsplex Dr.
Austin Shakespeare- “Romeo and Juliet” with a bilingual, bicultural twist, featuring Shakespeare’s own text, including some Spanish language! Set in Central Texas in 1940’s, this production boasts a Central Texas setting with a Mexican-American flavor. FREE!! Every Thursday through Sunday beginning May 7- June 7 at 8:00pm. The Sheffield Hillside Theatre, Zilker Park.
4th Annual Satsuki Matsuri (Japan May Festival)- The entire family is welcome to join in a day of fun, featuring traditional Japanese festival dance, Taiko (drum) performance, Kendo (Japanese fencing), sushi workshop, food, games and art stalls. Free for JASGA members, non-members pay only $5. Free for children under 15. O’Henry Middle School Cafeteria, 2610 W. 10th Street.
Polo for Puppies- Bring the family for a fun day of polo! Festivities start at 1:30. The first Polo Match will start at 2:00. The second Polo Match will start at 4:00 p.m. Free pony rides for kids, a silent auction, or you can try to hit polo balls off of a stationary horse. General admission is $15, kids 12 and under get in for free. Bring a picnic and a blanket! The Austin Polo Club, 13628 Gregg Manor Road, Manor.
Family Movie Night- This month’s featured show is “The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor (PG-13). FREE!! Families welcome. Show begins at 5:00pm. St. John’s Branch Library, 7500 Blessing Ave.
Esperanza de la Herencia- This live music and dance production will showcase more than 30 of our own dancers, musicians, and performing arts students, and will include special performances by PRFDance, our Professional-level and Junior Performing Companies. Parents Afternoon Out- Want to watch a movie but you can’t find a babysitter? No problem. You can purchase a voucher ($10 per child) and drop the kiddos off at Body Business while you sneak on over to watch a movie at Alamo! Movie tickets are a separate fee. Saturday, 2:30 and 6:30pm. Let’s Paint- Bring the entire family to create some art while supporting Austin’s emerging artists. There will be a live raffle of numerous art pieces, as well as live painting demonstrations. FREE!! Sunday, 1:00-4:00pm. Austin Art Garage, 2200 S. Lamar Blvd.
