The Weekenders: Events for Austin Families, September 18-20, 2009

Wildflower Center Nature Night: Plants and People- From Dyes to jelly, medicine to your daily meal, find out about the benefits and use of native plants in our everyday lives. Fairytale Threads Consignment Sale- Shop for some “new” used clothing, toys, gear, books, movies, furniture and more for your little ones. FREE admission and parking! Peter and the Wolf- Ballet Austin takes children of all ages through an interactive balletic version of this Russian fairy tale. Join as the youngest members of our audience help Peter and his animal friends triumph over the danger in his own back yard. Tickets, $14. Saturday and Sunday, 2:00 and 4:00pm. Cirque Du Pawrade- This event was rescheduled from last weekend due to the rain. A family and canine friendly day of fun that begins with a parade. There will be circus rings of activities including face painting, an inflatable and crafts. There will be tips on training your canine family member, dog races and more! FREE!! Book Box Storytime- Each Saturday, a guest will sing songs, read stories and then wrap it all up with a fun arts & craft project! FREE!! Saturday at Noon. Beth’s Book Box, 15803 Windermere Dr., Pflugerville.

Day for Kids- The annual Boy’s and Girl’s Club of South Central Texas is hosting a Day for Kids with FREE food, games and prizes for the entire family. Build a box with Home Depot, tube in the San Marcos river, play in the Coca-Cola fun center. Spend meaningful time with the children in your life. Saturday, 10:00am- 3:00pm. Austin Museum Day- The Austin Museum Partnership is proud to host the twelfth annual Austin Museum Day – a FREE, city-wide rediscovery of Austin museums. On Sunday, September 20, take the entire family out on the town to enjoy local exhibits and activities at 28 participating institutions, including: Robotics past & present at the Goodwill Computer Museum; live music at the Texas Music Museum; a chance to make your own collage at Mexic-Arte Museum; and a Cyberchase at the Austin Children’s Museum.
