Star of Texas Fair and Rodeo- Live music, cook-offs, rodeo competitions, a carnival, pig races and more- it’s all part of Rodeo Austin! Opening this weekend, the rodeo will go through March 27th. Second Saturdays are for Families- Experiment creating one-of-a-kind prints with everyday materials. Paint your way to prints using bubble wrap, buttons, yarn, and vinyl records — all inspired by the art on view in American Letterpress: The Art of Hatch Show Print. At 1:00pm, the Austin Public Library Literature LIVE! Puppet Troupe presents “The Vain Cuckoo Bird,” inspired by a Mexican folk tale. $7 for the whole family; $5 member families. Things Celtic St. Patrick’s Day Celebration- Enjoy live music throughout the day on our garden stage, performed by some of Ausin’s talented Celtic musicians. In front of the store, we’ll have a children’s activity area with games and crafts for the kiddies! Dress in your finest green attire and spend an afternoon with us at Things Celtic! FREE!! Lowe’s Build and Grow- A FREE hands-on clinic that is for kids of all ages! This weekend’s project will be to build a Tabletop Basketball game. Youth Film Making Workshop- 2010 SXSW Film and Austin School of Film present: DIY 3D Workshop for Youth. This workshop is FREE and open to ages 11-18. Participants will learn about 3D image making. They will turn their artistic visions into dioramas that will be presented as a 3D slide show on the big screen. No experiance necessasry. Sherwood Forest Faire- Go back in time to the Renaissance period at the First Annual Sherwood Forest Faire! There is a special kid’s area, Once Upon a Time with faeries, dragons, elves, satyrs and wizards, special games and shows, and even kid-friendly food! Tickets: $15/adults, $8.50/kids at the gate. Alice in Wonderland- Scottish Rite Children’s Theatre presents a new version of Lewis Carroll’s classic tale about a little girl named Alice who tumbles down a rabbit hole into a fantasy world populated by peculiar creatures including a habitually late rabbit! True to Scottish Rite Children’s Theatre form, the interactive show has a unique twist, and is perfect for young audiences ages 3-10. Saturday at 10:00am and Sunday at 2:00pm.
