No ACL wristband? No problem.
Didn’t score an ACL wristband? Unable to set aside the funds to attend this year?
Not to worry. There will be other opportunities to take in the bands in the coming week. You can even bring the little munchkins along (although you should set your expectations now and bring along noise-cancelling headphones– check Fry’s up north to pick some up–or earplugs to protect their little ears), thanks to KUT and KGSR.
KUT’s festival coverage kicks off at 9 a.m. this Friday, Oct. 12, with “KUT Live at the Four Seasons,” a pre-festival showcase, hosted by KUT’s Kevin Connor, featuring diverse artists, including Austin rock band Quiet Company (9 a.m.), Swedish folk duo First Aid Kit (10 a.m.), Italian singer-songwriter and rapper Jovanotti (11 a.m.) and Brooklyn-based Afrobeat band Antibalas (noon). All performances will be broadcast live on KUT 90.5.
“KUT Live at the Four Seasons,” is open to the public on a first-come, first served basis. Attendees are encouraged to bring their favorite chair or blanket to relax and enjoy the show at the Four Seasons Austin Hotel, 98 San Jacinto Blvd., downtown. Admission is $10 and includes a breakfast taco and coffee. Proceeds benefit the Seton Shivers Cancer Center.
At noon Friday, Oct. 5, “Texas Music Matters,” KUT’s music journalism unit, will broadcast its annual ACL Fest preview show “The List.” The one-hour broadcast aims to help festival-goers discover some of the best — but under-the-radar — new artists playing at the festival, while previewing some of the most anticipated performances. “The List” will air a second time at 11 p.m. Friday.
KGSR is also bringing you the musicians of ACL at Threadgill’s World Headquarters. A $5 charitable donation to the Seton Shivers Cancer Center gets you access to 4-hours of live music and interviews each day! The first 100 people will receive a complimentary breakfast taco. There will also be coffee provided throughout the broadcast, $3 16 oz. Bud Retro cans, and $6.75 Crown Royal Kickstart (Crown Royal + Bailey’s, Kaluha & Coffee).

If you are a night owl, there are still tickets for the Official Late Night Shows, which begin on Thursday, October 11th. At press time, about half of the Late Night Shows were sold out, which still leaves you with plenty of options to hit the town.
If you’d prefer to enjoy the show from the comfort of your own home, check out the ACL YouTube Channel, which will offer live streaming videos of many of the shows.
Have you made it to these early shows? Have you taken your kiddos? If so, any suggestions to share?
