This year we are excited to announce a new program for all the young movie buffs out there! Paramount Kids Classics will offer an exciting and educational afternoon at the movies on 10 Sundays throughout the summer, furthering our mission to support film education and bring the world’s treasured film history to people of all ages. In addition to kid-themed specials and informational study guides, we will be offering discounted tickets for families with kids, valid at each of the Paramount Kids Classics Sunday matinee screenings at the Paramount (except as noted). Recommended for ages 8 and up.

The films that will be featured in the Paramount Kids Program are:

Remember the old $1 movie theaters from back in the old days? This is the same thing, only costing a little more. The cinema is a bit older but has all of the essentials– popcorn, candy and soda– that you can find in the pricier joints. They show somewhat recent movies. Open seven days a week.

Location: 2132 N. Mays Street in Round Rock.

Cost: FREE

Escape to the library for free movies, popcorn and refreshments (and air conditioning!) throughout the summer! For a complete schedule and list of locations, it is best to check their website: http://library.austintexas.gov/youth-events. The first one coming up is a showing of Cars on Wednesday, June 5th. Times and locations vary.

Cost: $1 or $5 for 10 Movies if purchased in advance

All movies are rated G or PG. All shows begin at 10:00am on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Participating Theaters: Round Rock Cinemark Movie 8, 2132 N. Mays Street in Round Rock. (begins on June 4 and ends on August 8); Cinemark Tinseltown 17, 5501 S. IH 35 (begins on June 11 and ends on August 14); Cinemark Hill Country Galleria, 12812 Hill Country Blvd., Bee Cave (begins on June 12 and ends on August 14); Cinemark Cedar Park, 1890 Ranch Shopping Center, 1335 E. Whitestone Blvd., Cedar Park (begins June 5 and ends August 7).

Moviegoers of all ages can climb aboard the Summer Movie Express to enjoy a great selection of films. During this 9-week festival, participating Regal Cinemas, United Artists and Edwards Theatres will offer selected G or PG rated movies for only a dollar on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings at 10:00. A portion of proceeds from the Summer Movie Express will be donated to the Will Rogers Institute. The series will begin on June 11, 2013.

The Alamo Kids’ Camp shows your kids’ favorite movies every day of the week for free now through August 23rd! Times and locations vary so be sure to check the schedule to plan your visit. Children must be at least 3 years old for all showings except for Tuesday which is baby day. Tickets are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. A ticket must be picked up at the Box Office before entering the theater.  Customers are encouraged to arrive early to snag tickets and then head into the theater for custom family-friendly pre-show entertainment appropriate for all ages.

Seating is on a first come, first served basis. The theater opens at 9:00am and all films begin at 9:30am June 11th through August 20th.

Outdoor Movie Options:

If you would like to really spend some time in the great outdoors, head over to Deep Eddy Pool where you can float in the cool water while watching a family-friendly movie! Saturday at dusk July 6th through August 3rd.

Once again Round Rock Parks and Recreation presents free Movies in the Park events at Old Settlers Park in Round Rock brought to you by Flix Brewhouse and HomeField Grill. Bring your blankets and chairs and enjoy these free family events under the stars at Round Rock’s premiere park. Pre-movie activities start at 7:30 p.m. and the movies start at dark.

The movies are shown at Lakeview Pavilion in Old Settlers Park,  3300 Palm Valley Boulevard, Round Rock.

Brought to you by the Austin Parks Foundation, and presented by the #1 movie theater in America, the Alamo Drafthouse. Each year, APF and the Drafthouse bring you totally free movies right in downtown Austin at Republic Square Park. Austin residents and visitors bring their blanket or lawn chairs (and often a picnic dinner!) for a fun and relaxing evening under the beautiful Austin night sky.   Dogs are welcome. Alcoholic beverages, glass and styrofoam are not permitted in the park.

Beginning on June 5th through August 21st, unique pairings of live music and some of the most popular movies of all time will take place on the lawn of The Long Center. Bands will perform a tribute to the movie, followed by the film screening on The Alamo’s giant inflatable outdoor screen. The event is open to the public and all ages. Visitors can enjoy dining from Food Truck favorites including Frank, Blue Ox BBQ, Whole Foods, and more, all of which will be set up on the Long Center’s City Terrace.  Beer, wine, cocktails, and non-alcoholic beverages will be available for sale by the Long Center. Guests are also welcome to bring their own non-alcoholic drinks or food to picnic on the lawn.  The Food Trailers will be open by 7pm, and the sunset concerts will begin at 8pm each evening. The movie will immediately follow (after it gets dark).
