Tunes Tuesday: Last Good Tooth

Tunes Tuesday

Oh, summer. As mamas, this time of year we tend to get less sleep, less exercise and not eat as well as we should. Which, inevitably, leads to frazzled nerves, less patience with the kiddos and the dreaded mama guilt. Which is not quite a prescription for summer fun. Here at LiveMom, we challenge you to take some time for yourself this summer, whether that means reading a book while your partner takes the kids to the pool, getting crafty with your kids (instead of using that time to fold laundry or do chores) or getting out and spending time with friends. Whatever it is, you have our permission to take whatever time you can get to recharge.

Since we know you’re busy this summer, we’ll bring you one song each Tuesday that we’ve been loving lately, and let you know about some shows that are coming up, so you can have a reason to escape the kids, the kitchen counters and whatever’s keeping you from getting your summer zen on.

This week, we are bringing you “What’s What I Do”, a super catchy track from the New York-based band Last Good Tooth’s May release, Not Without Work and Rest. Take a listen and see if you can refrain from playing it again:

As a bonus, here is NPR’s Summer Songs mix, which is made up of a song from each year, starting with this year’s “Get Lucky” and going all the way to “The Loco-Motion” in 1962.

If you are in the mood to catch some music this week, here are a few shows happening this week:

What’s your favorite tune as of late? Any summer concerts you are looking forward to?

A native Austinite and soccer-playing mom, Nicole uses her newly-minted-7-year-old son as an excuse to rediscover her hometown through his eyes. In Thoreau’s words, her mission is to “suck out all the marrow of life”, or in her son’s words, to cultivate in him a love of “advenchers”.
