Austin Children’s Theater 

Our camps explore the many aspects of theatre and art, all inspired by weekly themes. Campers embark on creative journeys that spark their imaginations. Camps focus on teaching the creative process through games, movement, storyboarding, art projects, music, film, and more. Campers engage in all aspects of the creative process. Each camp culminates with a performance or art gallery installation, leaving the campers with a final work of art to share with family and friends, and great memories that will last a lifetime.

Cordovan Art School 

Cordovan Art School is celebrating its 10-year anniversary with the BEST creative camps in the greater Austin area! Fantastic Magic Camp

Since 1993 every day at Fantastic Magic Camp has been filled with fun, adventure, and discoveries. We open every weekday at 8 am for the arrival of campers, and the program starts at 9 am sharp. Each day includes classes in magic, juggling, puppetry, and other variety arts, as well as a live magic show by some of Austin’s best professional magicians and clowns. Our day ends at 4 pm, and pick up time is 4–4:30 pm, but for those who wish to stay longer, we offer an optional “Rehearsal Time,” running from 4–6 pm, where campers can practice what they have learned that day with assistance and supervision from our counselors and staff.

Girls Empowerment Network’s Summer Camp is a day camp that serves girls in grades entering 3rd-8th. Hello World – Computer Science

Hello World’s one-week immersive summer courses are held at academic institutions and technology hubs across Austin, including UT’s Department of Computer Science and Capital Factory. Hello World’s mission is to build autonomous learners who have positive experiences with computer science, approach and solve problems like engineers, and grow true programming and computational capabilities that can be applied to any field. The organization’s alumni have gone on to pursue computer science degrees at institutions including Stanford, MIT, and Rice University. All levels are welcome, including both those that are new to computer science and those with many years of experience. Each program runs Monday-Friday with a shortened day on Saturday, which includes a Student Showcase event.

Students experience personalized learning with a maximum of 6 students per instructor. Instructors are software engineers and computer scientists who are currently leading professionals within the course subject they support.

Neuron Garage

Orpheus Academy of Music 

Weekly Online Group Classes for Ages 4 to 13
In this unique summer music experience, students will build musicianship skills and connect with other students in fun, interactive activities inspired by our most popular summer camps! Each 45-minute class is tailored to the student’s age and experience level. Students 4 to 5 may also participate in private lessons, though it is not necessary for their enjoyment of summer musicianship classes. Students ages 6 to 13 should also participate in a weekly private lesson. Students age 10 to 13 should have at least two years of experience in music lessons.

Students ages 4 to 7 will:
– Connect with world cultures by learning songs from Brazil, Ghana, and Turkey.Build a foundation in rhythm.
– Explore melody and train their ears.
– Record their own virtual ensemble video that can be shared with family and friends (see an example from Orpheus faculty).
– Perform in a live online recital at the end of the summer.
– Connect with their friends through additional online classes and rehearsals that fit with anyone’s schedule.

Students ages 8 to 13 will:
– Master the major scale and dive deep into rhythm by composing music for a short film of their choosing (see the short films our students worked on last year).
– Build teamwork skills by creating dynamic Broadway scenes. Students can choose to sing, provide accompaniment, or compose their own song.
– Record their own virtual ensemble video that can be shared with family and friends (see an example from Orpheus faculty).

SDCTx Summer Design Institutes

SDCTx is offering three virtual Summer Design Institutes through the School of Design and Creative Technologies at the University of Texas at Austin. Each institute is designed and taught by a full-time UT Austin faculty member. High school students have the opportunity to learn about game design, graphic design, and animation from the comfort of their homes. All institutes provide students the unique opportunity to create a portfolio piece as they prepare to apply for college.

Sherwood Forest Summer Camp

An update on the 2020 camps at Sherwood Forest will be announced on June 1, 2020. 

Sherwood Forest Campers will experience many of the skills and trades of the Medieval era, which means making things with their own hands not drawing a picture on your screen with their fingers!

Disclaimer: Sherwood Forest Summer Camp is fraught with confrontations between Robin and his Merry Folk, the Sheriff and his deputies, and the Fae Folk. It is possible campers may be called on to help Robin defend Sherwood Keep!

Overnight Campers will enjoy three nutritious meals a day, cabins with restrooms, shower, and A/C plus a fantastic covered porch. Overnight Camp Sessions begin on Sunday afternoon and end on Saturday morning. Multiple weeks? Use our weekend stay-overs! Campers can disconnect from the virtual world and connect with friends while exploring the nature trails, doing new activities and push their limits all while under the safe and supportive care of our trained counselors.
