Austin Public Library Branch Hours to Expand in January 2015

The Austin City Council has approved the partial restoration of Austin Public Library branch hours for the 2014/2015 fiscal year budget. The expansion of branch hours will go into effect on January 2, 2015. Current branch hours will remain as they are until that date.

Expanded Branch Hours Starting January 2, 2015

  • Monday-Thursday 10 AM – 9 PM
  • Friday 1 PM – 6 PM
  • Saturday 10 AM – 5 PM (St. John Branch closes at 4 PM)
  • Sunday (Ruiz, Little Walnut, Manchaca Road and Yarborough Branches only) 2 – 6 PM

Operational hours at the Faulk Central Library, Recycled Reads and the Austin History Center will not change. The Austin Public Library is free to use and open to the public. For more information please call 512-974-7400, visit library.austintexas.gov or Ask A Librarian.

  1. That’s great news. I hope that means that the libraries that are closed for one day during the week will be open that day too.
