Enjoy Arts With The Family At Creative Action’s Fall Classes {And A Giveaway}

Are you looking for a creative outlet for your kids? Do you want a regular activity to get out of the house with your preschooler? Searching for something fun to do on Saturday mornings? Check out the latest classes from Creative Action which encourage fun, colorful, hands-on learning!

Creative Action provides arts enrichment for ages 0-11 in visual art, music, dance, and theatre. Through interactive classroom performances, after school arts residencies and community-based programs, Creative Action’s team of professional Teaching Artists inspire youth to be creative artists, courageous allies, critical thinkers, and confident leaders in their community.

By discovering their own voice, gaining confidence in sharing their perspectives, wrestling with big ideas, and deeply engaging in the world around them, youth become better prepared to work through social, emotional and academic challenges to become the next great thinkers, doers, and makers in our world.

Creative Action is hosting a class kick-off party on Saturday, September 12th at 9:00 am with refreshments and music to learn more about their fall classes.


Creative Action Fall 2015 Classes
September 9 – December 19 2015
Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays
9:30 – 10:15 am OR 10:30 – 11:15 am

All classes are at the Center for Creative Action at 2921 E. 17th St. Austin, 78704 (at the MLK Rail Stop). Please arrive at least 15 minutes prior to class to complete payment and registration.

Parents! You can drop off your kiddos ages 5+ and take a class next door. Sustainable Food Center has instructional cooking and gardening classes during some of our Saturday schedule. To check out the schedule and register, click here.

Sing with Us (Ages 0 – 5)
Bring music to life through play,dancing, instruments, and song. Enjoy music with your child and watch and listen to their music discovery. Adult participation with the child is an integral part of the program and a parent or caregiver must accompany each child during class. Presented in partnership with the Armstrong Community Music School.

Discover Music (Ages 0 – 3)
Listen, look, play, and discover music with your child in this tactile and fun learning environment. Learn songs to sing with your family, dance or wiggle into music discovery! Adult participation with the child is an integral part of the program and a parent or caregiver must accompany each child during class.

Leaps & Bounds (Ages 3 – 5)
Find your creative groove! Through creative dance, children will engage their imaginations, solve problems and make individual choices, all while collaborating in a group. Caregivers are welcome to dance too.This class is supported in part by Texas Commission on the Arts and brought to you by Forklift Danceworks.Advertisement
Exploring Music (Ages 4 – 6)
Continue your music discovery through dance and story. Activate your imagination and give it a voice in this multisensory class full of creativity, song, instrument play, and plenty of movement.

Storybook Adventures (Ages 4 – 6)
Explore reading, creative drama, music, and art through a new story each week. Using stories that incorporate themes of identity, emotion, relationships, and respect you can continue your reading adventures while gaining new skills in problem-solving, creative thinking, and self-awareness.

Art in Action (Ages 7 – 11)
Get inspired and follow your curiosity through painting, film-making, inventing, games, and crafting. In this creative workshop-type class you can bring your ideas to life through collaboration, seeing things from different points of view, and following your creative voice. This multimedia class will engage all of your senses.

Roots & Rhythms (Ages 7 – 11)
Discover your own rhythm and why we move by actively exploring music and dance from different cultures. Learn dance and movement styles from around the world while building confidence, creating community, and dancing it all out!

Zumba (Adults)
Move to great music while getting an awesome workout in this dance fitness class made for everyone! With a basis in Latin and World music, Zumba is a total body workout that looks and feels like a dance party. Parents are welcome to take this class while your child is attending a class at the same time.

Passes must be used September 12th – December 19th. They may be used for any of the Creative Action classes. These passes are not transferable and expire on December 20, 2015. Prize package must be picked up before the 9:30 am class on September 12th, 16th, 17th, or 19th.

All entries must be received by 10am CST on Wednesday, September 9, 2015. Approximate retail value is $50.
