Looking for a unique gift this holiday season? Austin’s museums have some great stuff in their gift shops, and many of them have special events and sales during the holidays! Here’s what we found that is going on this year:

Blanton Museum Fair Trade Holiday Trunk Show
Thursday, November 19, 2015 from 11am-8pm

This holiday season, the Museum Shop will help visitors find gifts they can feel good about giving! The Fair Trade Holiday Trunk Show features artful treasures from around the globe. The trunk show is organized by Ona Mission, a fair-trade group whose sole purpose is to celebrate and empower artisans from the farthest reaches of the world by bringing their unique one-of-a kind pieces to the local market. For this collection, which will include jewelry, clothing and seasonal decorations, the following fair-trade groups will be showcased: LizAlig, Ona Mission with Papillon Haiti, Peace Gospel International, Haiti Design Co-Op, and She Has Hope.

Blanton members will have a Double Discount Week from Friday, December 4th through Sunday, December 13th with 20% savings off everything that week. On Monday, December 7th, all UT Staff and Faculty can take advantage of Double Discount Day.

Women & Their Work Holiday Shopping & Tax Free Day
November 19, 2015 – December 23, 2015

SHOP TAX FREE on Thursday, November 19th from 10am to 8pm! The Gallery Gift Shop gets bigger for the holiday season! Check out the Museum’s eclectic selection of scarves, one of a kind jewelry, ceramics, artful books, unique kitchen wares, scented candles, stationery pads, clever kids’ toys, wallets and purses and much more. The store carries Austin designers and the imports. The shop features scarves by Cosette Russell, as well as others hand-woven in Thailand, Guatemala and Uzbekistan. The store also stocks jewelry by Sarah Fox, Lisa Crowder, Michelle Hur, Ashka Dymel, Elizabete Ludvyks, and the Paz Collective, among others. Qualifying members and state employees may take an additional 10% off.

Bullock Museum Holiday Sale
November 30, 2015 – December 6, 2015

Shop the Bullock Museum Store Holiday Sale online or in-person November 30 – December 6, 2015 and receive discounts storewide on distinctive holiday décor, trimmings, and exclusive ornaments. Everything will be 20% off or more! Members enjoy a night of shopping at the Holiday Sale Member Shopping Event on December 2. In addition to both member and store wide discounts, members are invited to sample hors d’oeuvres, desserts, wines, and other treats while browsing through a Lone Star State-sized selection of Texas ornaments and home décor.

Mix ‘n’ Mash: Austin Lotería! Party, Exhibition & Art Sale
Friday, December 4, 2015 from 5-10pm

Mexic-Arte Museum’s annual Mix ‘n’ Mash exhibition opens with a festive party and art sale on Friday, December 4, 2015 from 5–10pm. The works of over 200 artists will be displayed on quality panels donated by Ampersand Art Supply. Each limited-edition Mix ‘n’ Mash piece is uniquely crafted for the exhibition, inspired by an exciting twist on the theme of the Lotería card game: Austin Lotería. Members can attend at 5pm and doors open to the general public at 6pm. Museum members receive special discounts on artwork at the event.

Texas Memorial Museum Store Sale

The Texas Memorial Museum on the UT campus has a great gift shop for nature lovers. Information is not yet available about the 2015 sale, but the Store website will post the dates and specifics when it is available (most likely the sale will occur in mid-December).

Austin’s Cultural Campus Holiday Shopping Crawl
Saturday, December 12, 2015 from 9am-5pm

Join Austin’s Cultural Campus for a holiday shopping crawl featuring artful treasures from the LBJ Presidential Library, the Blanton Museum of Art, the Bullock Texas State History Museum, the Harry Ransom Center, and the Texas Memorial Museum. Get 20% off at The Store at LBJ and each of the other institutions by mentioning Austin’s Cultural Campus. Plus, sign up at any location to be entered in a special prize package drawing! Hours vary at each institution. Admission is not included.
