BookPeople will be hosting a Carnival of Books on Saturday, August 8th to celebrate all things books and reading with raucous merriment, bookish carnival games, tons of giveaways, an epic family read-aloud with favorite kids stories, free books and, of course, CAKE!!!

LITERARY TRIVIA

Only the wisest of the wise, the nerdiest of the nerds, have conquered the infamous BookPeople literary trivia challenge. Conquer the riddles at each information desk and ye shall receive the eternal glory and loot that only the BookPeople Nation can provide! No smartphones either.

FALL AUTHOR EVENT SCAVENGER HUNT

BookPeople has hidden announcements of its big fall events throughout the store. Tell the staff who you found and receive a prize!

GIVEAWAYS!

Wear your BookPeople gear! Own a hat / t-shirt / hoodie / tote bag / coozie / frisbee / pint glass / keychain / pen / pencil / ANYTHING that says BookPeople on it? Brandish it in the store today and you’ll get a FREE THING!
Buy a book off of the Family Read Aloud display!

PHOTOBOOTH

11:30AM – A Very Special BookPeople Storytime

To kick off the festivities, BookPeople will be inducting the youngest citizens into its community of readers with a bookish pledge, tokens of honor, special snacks, and — most importantly — a Circus Ship storytime to join the Carnival of Books!

12:00PM – Carnival Games Commence!

Gather under the BookPeople Big Top and try your luck at bookish carnival games. Win prizes ranging from ten cups of coffee in the cafe to advance copies of exciting new books!Advertisement
TEST YOUR LITERARY STRENGTH!

Sure, you can read a big book, but can you keep that hefty tome aloft with a single arm? How about six hefty tomes? While standing on one leg? With one eye closed? Step right up and test your literary strength!

Have a sharp eye and steady aim? Launch a ping pong ball into a red cup to win a prize!

HOW MANY BOOKS DOES IT TAKE TO BUILD A BOOKPEOPLE?

How many books do the shelves at BookPeople hold? One million? Two million? EIGHTEEN BILLION??? Wager a bet and you may win a BookPeople gift card, and ten free cups of coffee and a slice of cake from BookPeople’s cafe, CoffeePeople!

Visit the fortune teller for predictions and to enter to win advance copies of some of this season’s biggest books!

1:00PM – Family Read Aloud Marathon Storytime!

Storytime isn’t just for toddlers! After all, many favorite childhood memories involve snuggling up under a quilt and listening to the grand adventures of Mole, Rat, and Toad; Charlotte and Wilbur; Milo and Tock; or Bilbo Baggins and Thorin Oakenshield. BookPeople will be highlighting 25 of the store’s best-loved family read-alouds during the Carnival of Books, and staff members will be taking the stage on the second floor to share some of their favorite first chapters!

3:00PM – CAKE, CHAMPAGNE & FALL EVENT REVEAL
