Reviving its highly successful inaugural run in 2014, Pollyanna Theatre is once again partnering with the LBJ Presidential Library and Museum on a special production for children and families about Civil Rights. Liberty! Equality! And Fireworks! by Gregory S. Perrin, is FREE of charge and open to the public for one performance only on Saturday, February 20th at 2:00 pm at the LBJ Library Auditorium.
The play, set in a history museum where the characters, a group of 4th grade students, (portrayed by adult professional actors) experience key elements of our national history when iconic images from that period come to life. These characters entertain and enlighten; taking children on a fascinating journey through history. Liberty! Equality! And Fireworks! was written as a commission by award-winning playwright Gregory Perrin for Pollyanna Theatre Company.
The LBJ Library’s Education Department helped create educational resources to accompany the show, which are available free of charge, online and in print for all adults who attend the production. The materials explore the Civil Rights Movement and include recommendations on how to navigate children through this very important topic.
