Event: The Big Latch On at BabyEarth, 8/1

The Big Latch On is a global event that aims to promote and support breastfeeding by having mothers across the world breastfeed their babies simultaneously. On Saturday, August 1, the Mothers’ Milk Bank at Austin will be partnering with BabyEarth to host a latch on at their Round Rock store from 9:30am-1:00pm.

In addition to the latch on, this FREE, fun-filled event will feature lots of other exciting activities!

SCHEDULE OF EVENTS:

9:30am: Doors open & registration begins for the Big Latch On participants. (To be included in official head count, all participants must be registered BEFORE 10:20am)

9:45am: Overcoming Breastfeeding Hurdles – by Brian the Birth Guy

10:30am: The Official Latch On Count

10:45am – 1:00pm: We will have the following activities:

Nursing Photo Sessions, Hands for Breastfeeding Craft, Sign Language DEMO class, Finger foods, Games & Prizes!!!

[[2:00 – 6:00pm]] Pregnancy & Birth Planning Workshop – Positive Birth Community Doulas

The Big Latch On aims to:

  • Support communities to identify and grow opportunities to provide on-going breastfeeding support in local communities
  • Raise awareness of breastfeeding support and knowledge available locally and globally
  • Help communities positively support breastfeeding in public places
  • Model breastfeeding as normal part of day-to-day life at a local level
  • Increase support for women who breastfeed – by supporting women their infants, partners, family and communities
  • Ensure communities have the resources to advocate for coordinated, appropriate, and accessible breastfeeding support services
