On Saturday, January 26, 2013, hundreds of women will gather at The Oasis on Lake Travis for the third installment of MomCom Austin, a conference for women who are looking to connect with others and be inspired in their daily lives. Founder Trish Morrison created MomCom Austin to give women a place to interact, share stories, and make new friends, all while listening to inspiring speakers throughout the day. Attendees include stay at home moms, working moms, aspiring entrepreneurs, and more, all from various backgrounds who are looking to learn a little something about themselves and gain a little inspiration for “what’s next.”
I’ve attended the past two MomCom Austin conferences and each time I have taken valuable lessons and information away from the event, and enjoyed time spent with my friends, while making new ones. Trish strives to schedule speakers that not only have amazing and interesting stories to tell, but who attendees can also relate to as women and as mothers. Past speakers have included local children’s book author Liz Garton Scanlon, Trailer Food Diaries’ Tiffany Harelik, Palo Alto Software CEO Sabrina Parsons, Christiane Erwin, owner of Crestview Doors, and more. Each speaker has a unique story to tell about the evolution of their careers and how their families and roles as mothers influenced their goals and decision making.
This month’s event features speakers Elaine Garza of Giant Noise on her accidental journey into business and the life lessons along the way, Bernadette Noll and Carrie Contey, Ph.D. from Slow Family Living on building your mama tribe, entrepreneur Laura Shook-Guzman on work/life balance, and more. See the full schedule on the MomCom Austin website. The day also includes exhibitors, networking, social and snack breaks, and lunch, followed by a happy hour with friends and family. At the last MomCom, I had my husband and children meet me for dinner at The Oasis after the event, which was a perfect way to wrap up a fun and inspiring day.
For more information on the event, visit the MomCom Austin website. Conference admission is $89 for past attendees. For everyone else it is $109 until January 11 and $129 for late registration after January 11.
