It’s time again for MomCom, an event that focuses on the real stories of motherhood, held at the Oaks Event Center in Austin, Texas on June 29, 2013 from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Speakers, Sera Bonds, of Circle of Health International, Amy Simmons, CEO and Founder of Amy’s Ice Creams, Carey Youngblood, Founder & CEO of Heartsong Music Together, Christina Winch CEO of Winch Financial and Desiree Holt, romance author and grandmother, will share their real stories of motherhood, life, and work. You can read more about the speakers in a recent feature that we published. Or check out the video below!
MomCom events, a part of the MomCom® Life motherhood brand, bring together moms of diverse ages, backgrounds and life experiences to support each other and welcome each other into the mom community. Speakers include women who have built businesses, written books, published successful blogs, or contributed to the community in their own way. They are “ordinary moms” doing extraordinary work.
Trish Morrison, MomCom founder, says she started MomCom to fulfill her own need of knowing that she wasn’t alone in motherhood. After having her daughter at age 39, Morrison says she lost her identity and her confidence as a woman. It wasn’t until after she starting talking to other mothers and hearing their stories, that she realized she wasn’t alone.
“I ask the speakers to focus on their real stories as moms and business women. We all have incredible stories to tell and the learning at MomCom comes from active listening and participation rather than classroom-style sessions. By hearing each others’ stories women who may seem to be on different courses in their lives; bloggers, techies, creatives, stay at home moms, entrepreneurs; all come together under the same roof and realize that we’re all in this together, no matter where our paths are taking us,” says Morrison.
Tickets are only $129 and include a light breakfast, lunch and a local foodie reception with live music by Kimberly Connolly. New on the agenda this year are two breakout sessions: Google+ for Business and How Money Really Works: Practical Advice for Women. You can register here.
Sponsors for the event include Google+ Local, Howdy Honda, Deep Eddy Vodka, and Dr. Smith’s. Local foodie favorites, Maudie’s Tex-Mex, Waterloo Ice House and Pretty Thai for a White Guy are just a few of the vendors serving up local Austin flavor.
