Gourmet By Numbers, a local startup committed to keeping Austin cooking by providing fresh, ready-to-cook meal kits, is proud to announce the grand opening of their brick and mortar store in North Austin at 7318 McNeil Dr. Austin, Texas 78729 on September 14.

Launched in 2014 by Austinite Heather Amalaha, Gourmet By Numbers offers chef-inspired meal kits that include fresh ingredients and an easy-to-follow recipe that can be made in under 30 minutes. Ingredients have been washed, cut, and measured helping customers “cook smarter, not harder.” The menu offers options for all diets, including vegetarian, gluten-free, and dairy-free dishes, with new menu items added each month. Whenever possible, Gourmet By Numbers sources ingredients from local farms and suppliers including Johnson’s Backyard Garden, Johnny G’s Butcher Block, and Salud de Paloma. The concept is perfect for both busy families and young professionals, offering single-serving meal kits in addition to 2-4-serving meal kits for couples and families.

Meal kits can be purchased individually for $12.50 per serving or as weekly subscriptions. Subscribers have access to an expanded menu, receive three meal kits per week, enjoy free delivery, and save $2.50 – $10.00 per week versus a la carte orders:

  • Single Subscription (1 Serving): $35/week
  • Couple Subscription (2 Servings): $70/week
  • Family Subscription (4 Servings): $110/week

To celebrate the opening of the new store, Gourmet By Numbers is offering a special one-week-only promotion the week of September 14. The store will be giving out 1 free meal kit (1-2 servings) to any customer that visits the new store and signs up for their newsletter. Additionally, Gourmet by Numbers is currently offering a promotion to customers that sign up now for the subscription service, offering 50% off the first week.

Delivery is available to Austin residents in an area encompassing the majority of Travis County. Now with a physical location, customers are given the added convenience of cooking at home even if they haven’t planned ahead.

Heather Amalaha launched Gourmet By Numbers after successfully carrying out a crowdfunding campaign through Indiegogo in 2014. Amalaha has a background in Nutrition and Food Studies, including a Bachelor of Science degree from New York University. She came up with the idea for Gourmet By Numbers when trying to balance work, her two children, and the struggle of making fresh and healthy meals for her family.

“Cooking at home has amazing benefits but I know firsthand how challenging it can be to incorporate all the planning, shopping, and chopping into an already busy schedule. Preparing and sharing meals together is good for your health and fosters deeper connections with friends and family,” said Heather Amalaha. “I couldn’t be more excited to open the Gourmet By Numbers store and continue to help the Austin community cook smarter, not harder!”

The Gourmet By Numbers store is open Monday – Saturday from 10:00am – 7:00pm. For more information about Gourmet By Numbers, to sign up for their subscription service, or to purchase any of their ready-to-cook meal kits, visit www.gourmetbynumbers.com.
