Spring Break + SXSW = FUN!
The kids are out of school. There’s a gazillion cool events and hip people all over Austin. Don’t let fear of missing out bring you down over spring break. If the crowds keep you far away from the city center, or if you plan to be in the heart of the action, we have some family-friendly events planned to make everyone happy.
The first up is Family Music Meltdown, happening on Wednesday, March 15, 2017, from 3-6:30pm, at Pan Am Park (2100 E. 3rd Street, Austin). In partnership with The City of Austin Parks and Recreation Department, our annual Family Music Meltdown is a laid back live music show for kids and adults of all ages. Bring a blanket to spread on the lawn, enjoy food trucks, activities for the kids, and mingle with a handful of local nonprofits to learn more about what they do for our community.
The Lineup Includes:
- The Groundwork Music Orchestra
- Red Yarn
- The Deedle Deedle Dees
- Ralph’s World
- Riders Against the Storm
- Strumero
- El Tule
Next up is one show you definitely do not want to miss! Join us at the Austin Scottish Rite Theater (207 W. 18th Street, Austin) on Friday, March 17, 2017, from 10 am – 2:30 pm, for Willie is for Everyone, a Willie Nelson Tribute Show for families. That’s right…. we’ll be celebrating Willie Nelson with songs and even a professional hair-braiding station to honor Willie’s unique style, courtesy of Avenue Five Institute.
The stellar lineup includes:

It’s going to be amazing. In addition to the stellar lineup, there will be foods trucks, a coloring sheet station, jumping on a Springfree Trampoline and more.
Tickets are only $3 for adults, $1 for children 12 and under. All proceeds benefit the renovation of the Austin Scottish Rite Theater. Tickets are available here.
Last but not least, join us at The Domain (Amy Donovan Plaza between Dick’s Sporting Goods and Dillard’s) on Saturday, March 18, 2017, from 2-5:30 pm for Rock + Read, a celebration of music and books. This FREE event features another great lineup of musicians and local children’s and YA book authors reading from their books.
