The Austin area is graced with many different music festivals every year: ACL, SXSW, Pachanga, Old Settler’s, to name a few. On May 7th, another festival will take place at Pioneer Farms. This one’s not a three day fest. There’s no camping on site. But there will be a Tiny Scarecrow making an appearance; a rare event, so I hear.
The Biscuit Brothers brings you the Austin Family Music Festival with bands that will delight the entire family. One act that I am particularly looking forward to seeing is The Monster Big Band, “a collection of Austin-area musicians who have come together to play hard-driving swing with an attitude.”
Imagine getting to sing along with a Barbershop Quartet or hearing Steel Drums up close – so close they make your toes tap! You ride a musical hayride down a tree-lined path past friendly horses and cows, turn a corner and there’s a real, live Mariachi group and – a little further on – a Tuba Band. Is that a Bagpipe player under that tree? There are all types of music to hear and there are interesting sights to see; you might even explore a garden full of musical instruments where you can try your hand at making music!
The Fifth Annual Austin Family Music Festival is a special day at historic Pioneer Farms featuring performances by family-friendly entertainers the Emmy® Award winning Biscuit Brothers, and a farm-full of family friendly musical acts – plus it’s a chance to experience music in a whole new way – up close and personal.
In addition to The Monster Big Band, Austin Taiko, Mariachi Relampago, Sunshine Generation, C.J. Menge’s Inside Out Steel Band, Lohman’s Crossing, Walter T. & the Rated G’s, and 3rd Generation will also be playing at the festival. There will be hay rides, crafts, food, and presentations by Austin-area organizations. LiveMom AND Heidi from Free Fun in Austin will be there as well! So come on by to say hi!
