Miss Representation Screening

Have you heard of the documentary film Miss Representation? The film, by Jennifer Siebel Newsom, premiered at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival, and then went on to air on OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network.

The film explores how the media’s misrepresentations of women have led to the underrepresentation of women in positions of power and influence.

One of our very own Austin mama bloggers, Carmen from the blog From Bumpkin to Buddhist, feels passionately about the subject and has arranged a special screening with a panel discussion to follow. You can read her review here and also check out MissRepresentation.org to get more involved.
