Just as soon as the dust settles after Christmas, you’ll be left wondering what you should do for New Year’s. We’ve rounded up some New Year’s fun, whether you are celebrating with your kids or whether you have a babysitter at the ready. Act fast, since some events may sell out.

New Year’s For Kids

Austin’s New Year – Ring in the New Year at the City of Austin’s free, family-friendly, community celebration! Adults and kids are encouraged to Play, Make, and Glow in Butler Park with interactive art projects, outdoor film screenings, and plenty of music – including Brownout, Mother Falcon, Peelander-Z, and Riders Against the Storm.  It all wraps up with a fireworks finale at 10 p.m. Butler Park, 1000 Barton Springs Rd., 78704. Austin’s Park – Bring the family out on December 31st from 11am until 9pm for free party favors, face painting and balloon drops with great prizes at 2pm and 6pm. Kids can also ride the new Skate 360. 16231 IH-35, Pflugerville, 78660.

Blazer Tag – Blazer Tag hosts a New Year’s Lock-In on Friday, January 2nd until the morning of January 3rd. Check in begins at 11pm on Friday, and the event runs from midnight until 7am on Saturday. Family New Year’s Eve Package -Looking for an unforgettable way to end one year and kick off the next? Book the Family New Year’s Eve Package at Hyatt Regency Lost Pines Resort and Spa. New Year “Count Down Around the World” Party – Children ages 4 to 13 will enjoy an evening of fun themed activities, a dinner buffet, and a midnight toast. New Year’s Eve Family Celebration at Mel’s Lone Star Lanes – The Family Celebration goes from 5:30-8pm and includes unlimited bowling and shoe rental, Mel’s souvenir Champagne glass (per person, while supplies last), full dinner buffet, karaoke party and party favors. $110 per lane, valid for up to 6 bowlers per lane in Mel’s & for up to 5 bowlers per lane in CJs. Noon Year’s Eve Party at the Library – Children ages 3 and above are welcome to join in on crafts, dancing and a final countdown to noon. Free. Arrive at 11:30am at the Round Rock Public Library, 216 E. Main, 78664.

Noon Year’s Eve Party at Lake Travis Library – Arrive at 11:45am to celebrate the new year at noon! Attendees will make crafts, snack on goodies and countdown to the 12 o’clock hour. FREE. 1938 Lohmans Crossing, 78734.

Noon Year’s Eve at Pinballz – Kids ages 10 and under can make and decorate craft projects, have light snacks, get $5 in tokens and wait for the noon balloon drop in the lobby with secret surprises in each balloon. New Year’s Day Polar Bear Splash – Central Texans have swum in Barton Springs year ’round for hundreds of years. The annual “Polar Bear Swim” on New Year’s Day is a growing tradition that brings together Austinites of all stripes for a fun, festive way to bring in the new year! The event begins at 9:30am, although the official plunge is at 10 am. SOS Alliance will serve hot coffee and donuts starting at 9:30am and will be selling our 2014 commemorative Polar Bear Splash t-shirts for $15. Pflugerville PFreeze PFlop – Are you brave enough to slide into the pfrigid water at Scott Mentzer Pool to kick off your new year? The event lasts until the last brave soul goes down the slide! Polar Bear Splash – Take part in the Kyle tradition and make a “Splash” on January 1st at the Kyle Pool. There is no admission charge to join to take part in the Annual Polar Bear “Splash”. Light snacks and drinks available. Gates open at 1pm and he splash takes place at 1:30pm. Rain-out make-up day will be Saturday, January 3rd. Same time and place. There is a Polar Bear Club that anyone can join for $15, which includes a Polar Bear shirt, your name on Polar Bear Club Plaque for a year and a door prize ticket. New Year’s DAY Parade!Join the Minor Mishap Marching Band for a little New Years Day Parade, starting at 2pm at Doug Sahm Hill and ending at the spiral in the Lamar Pedestrian Bridge. Salute to Vienna: A New Year’s Concert – Ring in the New Year on Sunday, January 4th at 3pm with an all-star cast of European singers, dancers and full orchestra. New Year’s Without Kids

Aerial Spectacular at The Marchesa – This New Year’s Eve Aerial Spectacular will feature 18 costumed and choreographed aerial acts including, trapeze, lyra, chains, silks and pole. Solos, duets and uplifting group numbers will be performed for your viewing pleasure. Selected acts will be performed with a live female vocalist. AdvertisementAlamo Drafthouse’s Rockin’ New Year’s Eve Music Video Dance Party – The Action Pack has been throwing NYE parties at the Alamo Drafthouse for years now, and their music video DJs have got this down to a science. Once again they’ll be celebrating all the biggest pop hits of the year, so you can be sure that you’ll get Drunk in Love, then you can Shake It Off with some Uptown Funk that makes you feel Fancy just like the Cool Kids. Bob Schneider’s New Year’s Eve PartyThe Paramount Theatre invites you to celebrate New Year’s Eve with perennial favorite Bob Schneider. From “Tarantula” and “40 Dogs” to his latest single “Unpromised Land,” Bob has proven time and time again why he’s one of Austin’s most beloved artists. Doors open at 8pm for this 9pm show. Earphunk – Back to the Phuture New Year’s Eve Party – The New Orleans quintet will bring two 75-minute sets of funk goodness to the Empire Control Room. Tickets start at $20 plus fees.  606 E. 7th, 78701.

Esquina Tango – A DJ will be spinning tunes that will make you dance all night long. No reservations needed (unless you want to reserve a seat) BYOB (Champagne and wine welcome). Potluck style. Party favors provided. The midnight countdown will be projected on the big screen. Party runs from 9am until 2am. Goodall’s Kitchen – Goodall’s will be open from 5-11pm on New Year’s Eve with a special menu. The price per person is $70 and does not include tax, gratuity and alcohol. You can make a reservation online. 1900 Rio Grande, 78705.

Grupo Fantasma Black & Red Maskerade Ball – The Belmont will host this show with special guest Gina Chavez. Doors at 7:30 and show starts at 8:30pm. All ages. Tickets are $30 in advance, $35 the day of the show and $60 for VIP.

Mel’s Lone Star Lanes Strikin’ NYE Bash – This adults party runs from 9pm until 1am and includes unlimited bowling and shoe rental, Mel’s souvenir Champagne glass (one per person, while supplies last), a decadent dessert bar, karaoke party and party favors. $125 per lane in Mel’s and $140 per lane in CJ’s (valid for up to 6 bowlers per lane in Mel’s, up to 5 18 & older bowlers in CJ’s).  Tickets available online. 1010 N. Omni Barton Creek Resort & Spa – At this adults-only celebration, attendees can enjoy a celebration with a prix fixe menu, dancing, casino and a sparkling wine toast from 7pm until 1am. Please call (512) 329-7923 for reservations.

Palm Door – Palm Door on Sixth celebrates its first anniversary on New Year’s Eve with Studio Palm Door, a Studio 54 themed warehouse party starring Brooklyn disco sensation Escort and featuring Austin favorite Holiday Mountain. Guests will enjoy a light-up dance floor, complimentary bites, and a champagne toast at midnight. Tickets are $99.99 plus fees. 508 E. 6th.

Z’Tejas – The restaurant will feature a special menu December 31st until January 3rd, including tuna tartar, lobster bisque, surf & turf, pork roulade, Chambord cheesecake, $5 sparkling wine and more.
