Back to School Party- Join us for a special Back to School Party storytime event featuring two great books for you to enjoy: First Day Jitters by Julie Danneberg and Judy Love and Miss Nelson is Missing! by Harry Allard and James Marshall. Hello Kitty Meet and Greet- Get ready to meet Hello Kitty in person!  Hello Kitty will be visiting Toy Joy from 4 – 6pm on Friday  and 2 – 4pm on Sunday! Sign Language Storytime- Enjoy a FREE sign language storytime at the Wells Branch Community Library. Saturday, 1:00pm. Wells Branch Community Library, 15001 Wells Port Dr.

Batfest- Enjoy arts, crafts, music, food,  bat watching, children’s activities, and educational displays with the scenic backdrop of Town Lake and downtown Austin. Come out and see between 1.5 and 2 million Mexican Free Tail Bats while shopping for creative items made in Austin. See over 20 bands on two stages. FREE Admission!! Saturday, 1:00pm- midnight. Cupcake Smackdown- Enjoy noshing on some sweet morsels from local bakeries, challenging the current Guiness World Record for Most Jaffa Cakes Eaten in One Minute, participate in setting the World Record for Most People Simultaneously Frosting a Cupcake, check out local arts and crats, let out some energy whacking a cupcake pinata and launch some cupcakes from the cupcake cannon. Pflugerville Police Department Open House- What a better way to introduce your family and new residents to the City than a tour and open house at the Police Department! Bring the family out to meet the officers, civilians and volunteers who work 24-7 to keep our city a safe and pleasant place to live. Tours of the Justice Center including the CID (criminal investigation division), the Communications Division (Dispatch), the incarceration areas, Patrol Division, Volunteers Center; Code Enforcement and Victim Services. Twin Oaks Branch Library Grand Opening- There will be a building dedication ceremony, live music by the swinging Academy of Jazz Players, and abundant food and drink from local South Austin vendors. Hill Country Galleria Concert Series- Enjoy live music by Trey Werner Band with Blind Tactic  for FREE. Saturday, 7:00pm. Hill Country Galleria, 12700 Hill Country Blvd., Bee Cave.

Highland Mall Safety Fair- Connect with the  local agencies dedicated to keeping our community safe and families safe. FREE day of safety education, information, and fun which will feature a fire truck, APD bomb squad and robots, CPR lessons, child and senior ID kits and more. There will also be exhibits on crime prevention, drug and alcohol awareness, fire safety, bike safety, crime preventions and more. Saturday, 11:00am- 3:00pm. Highland Mall, 6001 Airport Blvd.

Storytime at Mitchie’s- Enjoy a FREE storytime and sign language featuring African-American folktales from 1:00-2:00pm every Saturday. Kids receive free refreshments, a gift and a 30% discount! Mitchie’s Gallery, 7801 N. Lamar Blvd., Bldg. B, Suite 148.

Butterflies! Storytime- This coming week marks the beginning of the Monarch butterfly Fall Migration! Because there are few things lovelier than a magnificent Monarch butterfly, we wanted to have a storytime all about these delicate, winged bugs. We’ll read the classic The Very Hungry Caterpillar along with other flittery and fluttery stories all about these gorgeous bugs. So bring your butterfly nets and open ears for a great storytime. Circus Chickendog- BANG! Who put a circus in my fairytale? Who put a fairytale in my circus? Circus Chickendog, that’s who! Come see the magical melee of mayhem created when a half dozen trick dogs, a singing Scarlet Macaw, a juggler, unicyclist, magician, and clown (along with some fantasy creatures) find themselves in a land of very strange rules sure to lead to entertaining predicaments that will test their moral fabric.
