Home Depot Kids Workshop– Saturday, February 2 from  9:00am- Noon. Bring your kids to this FREE How-To Workshop for kids ages 5-12 years old where they will make a Valentine Card Holder, perfect for storing all of those Valentine’s Day cards! All participating Home Depot Locations.

2013 Lunar New Year Celebration – Saturday, February 2, from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. The Asian American Cultural Center invites everyone to celebrate the 2013 Lunar New Year. The center will host many different cultural performances of dance and music, as well as martial arts and calligraphy demonstrations. Guests can enjoy authentic Asian foods throughout the day. Admission is FREE, so bring the whole family and help welcome the “Year of the Snake!” See the program here. Kite Making Workshop – Saturday, February 2, from 1 – 3 p.m. The City of Austin Parks and Recreation and The Exchange Club of Austin invite the public to attend a FREE kite workshop at Pan Am Recreation Center. Organizers will help adults and children make kites and materials will be provided. Volunteers are needed to help participants and no experience is required.The series of four workshops will continue every Saturday in February at recreation centers throughout Austin. Organizers encourage participants to fly the kites at the annual Zilker Park Kite Festival, coming up on March 3. Pan Am Recreation Center, 2100 E. 3rd St., Austin

Free Day of DanceSaturday, February 2, from 10 a.m. – 8 p.m. Austin’s fifth annual Free Day of Dance will be held on Saturday at various dance establishments all over the city. This annual day of FREE dance classes is the perfect opportunity to explore the wonderful world of ballroom and social dancing, as well as the benefits that dance provides, such as stress relief, physical activity, and even the opportunity to make new friends. Popular dance styles offered on Free Day of Dance will include tango, waltz, samba, swing, polka, and many more. Goodnight Moon– Saturday, February 2 at 11:00am and 2:00pm. Step into the Great Green Room as one of the most iconic children’s books of all time is brought to life. In this lively musical, Bunny’s room magically comes alive with stunning puppetry, tap dancing bears, and even a trip through the night sky with a constellation light show. For ages 3 and up. Generations: Family First Sundays at Umlauf – Sunday, February 3, from 1 – 4 p.m. Families have the opportunity to explore Umlauf collection and exhibitions in the garden and museum while engaging in creative art making. Enjoy art activities, story times, and performances. Austin Public Library will host storytime at 1:30 p.m.  The Lindy Project will do the swing with guests at 2:30 p.m. FREE with admission ($0 – $3.50). What’s the Story Steve?– Move Your Tale and ColdTowne Theater collaborate to present this fully improvised theatrical journey through a story of the audience’s making. Featuring Steve the improvising poodle, a portion of the show follows Steve through an original tale. Pay what you wish. Appropriate for audiences of all ages. A return to MYT’s classic event structure, kids will join us on the stage for the entire event, providing sound effects, characters and settings for for every story.
