What’s the Story Steve- Move Your Tale and ColdTowne Theater collaborate to present this fully improvised theatrical journey through a story of the audience’s making. Improv is great way to approach collaborative storytelling. This production empowers children to help make the story happen or to just sit back and enjoy the ride! A great, theatrical way to spend a Saturday morning. Featuring Steve the improvising poodle, a portion of the show is inspired by the PBS series What’s the Story Wishbone. Pay what you wish. Valentine’s Day Craft at the Disney Store- Kids are invited to Disney Store to create a unique Valentine’s Day card for their special someone. Saturday, 10:30 am – 1:00 pm. Second Saturdays are for Families: Paper Sculptures and Puppets- Make your own paper sculpture inspired by the art of Lauren Fensterstock, on display in the Villa at Laguna Gloria. AdvertisementDarwin Day- Join us for Darwin Day, a celebration of evolution and Charles Darwin himself from the Center for Inquiry Austin. We will have events for all ages.  In our amphitheater, kids can learn about fossils where we’ll have a bunch on display.  Up on our third floor, we will have talks on evolution for adults.  Rebecca Lewis, UT Anthropology, will be speaking on “The Evolution of Social Systems.” Ernie Lundelius, Emeritus Professor from UT Austin, will give the talk: “I Dig Fossils”. Community Games Day- Join the Goddard School of Cedar Park in promoting a positive message about friendship and “no bullying” with fun activities, games, and good times. Attendees can participate in various games and outdoor play (weather permitting), including Gymboree parachute time and a Spanish dance recital. Local clown Bonzo Crunch will be on hand to entertain the crowds from 10:30 – 11:30 a.m. Vista Ridge High School will host an anti bullying table, where students will share ideas on providing a culture of kindness and embracing diversity. Flying Theatre Machine: The Adventure Room- Sundays at the Hideout, Flying Theater Machine presents the only kid-oriented improv in Austin. Darwin Day- Enjoy a free, family-friendly event celebrating the anniversary of Charles Darwin’s birth. Travel on your own voyage of discovery as you explore specimens from the TNSC collections similar to those that Darwin saw during his journey while aboard the HMS Beagle, investigate how Darwin’s observations led him to develop fundamental theories of evolution, and learn more about Darwin’s influence on modern day science.FREE activities for the whole-family include:Arts and crafts, exploration of TNSC specimens at booths hosted by University of Texas at Austin scientists, and digging in the Fossil Dig Pit.
