Dive-In Movie: Madagascar 3 – Friday, July 19 at 8:30 p.m. The pool area will be cleared at 8 p.m. Anyone wishing to see the movie will be charged $3 to come back into the pool area at 8:30 p.m. Swimming is allowed while the movie is being shown. Lakeway Swim Center, 103 Lakeway Blvd., Lakeway.

Music Under the Star – Friday, July 19, from 6 – 9 p.m. Every Friday in July, bring your camp chairs and blankets (but no coolers, please) and dance the evening away to the hottest sounds in Austin. This FREE concert series features a fantastic line-up of Texas musicians who will play from 6 to 9 p.m. on the Bullock Museum’s Lone Star Plaza. This week, you can hear Grupo Fantasma with special guest La Guerrilla. In between sets, cool off with a trip through the exhibits, which will be FREE and open to the public during the concerts. Kids can decorate wooden star cutouts and turn them into wearable art: pins, necklaces, bolo ties and more! Bullock Texas State History Museum, 1800 N. Kayak the Colorado- Saturday, July 20 from 9:00am- Noon. $40 per person. There’s no better way to usher in your weekend than with a serene and refreshing morning on the water. Listen for the salute of waterfowl greeting the day, catch a glimpse of the waking wildlife along the river banks and bask in the breathtaking scenery. Relax and recharge as you kayak the Colorado. Speed Stacking Workshop- Saturday, July 20 from 10am- noon. Sam Nelson is a 12-year-old World Champion Sport Stacker and is coming to Kaleidoscope Toys to teach you all about Speed Stacking! Sam has competed in various regional competitions throughout Texas and most recently traveled to Denver, Colorado to the World Championships where he placed 5th in the Individual World event and 2nd in the Team World event. Sam will be conducting (4) 20-minute classes where kids will learn correct stacking formations for the 3 individual events, rules, and speed tips. He will also teach the 3-3-3, the 3-6-3, and the Cycle, as well as Relay Team rules and procedures. The event will include mini competitions complete with prizes from the WSSA. Class times are: 10:00am, 10:30am, 11:00am, and 11:30am. Admission is a $3 donation to the Round Rock Serving Center. Pre-Registration is required by calling Kaleidoscope Toys at 512.388.5048. Book Release Party: Sam in the Trees – Saturday, July 20, from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. Join local author Alexandra L. Cohen in celebrating the release of her children’s book, Sam in the Trees. The book release party will include music from three local singer-songwriters, treats from Good Pops, and face painting. There will also be story times with image projections from the book. FREE!! Healthy Kids Cooking Class- Saturday, July 20 at 11:00am. Cost: $5 per child. Recommended for ages 4-8 years old. Join Kelly & Karie for a Healthy Cooking Class especially for the little ones. Lone Star Jedi Lightsaber Summit VI - Saturday, July 20, from 6:30 – 9:30 p.m. The Austin-based Lone Star Jedi are hosting Lightsaber Summit VI. Star Wars fans will gather in Butler Park to test their saber combat techniques and provide instruction to newcomers. This gathering is FREE for all to attend. The saber groups will take time to instruct newcomers in basic saber techniques and entertain the audience with dazzling displays of saber combat. The event begins at 6:30 but the real fun does not start until dusk. That is when the lightsabers really wow and dazzle! Butler Park, 1000 Barton Springs Road, Austin.

The Funnybun Family Picnic- Saturday, July 20 at 11am, 2pm and 4pm; Sunday, July 21 at 2pm. It’s a fine summer Saturday and the Funnybuns are preparing to go off on their annual family picnic. But, being a clown family, nothing goes as planned. Papa Willie tries hard to keep the kids laughing, while Mama Lindy keeps putting on band-aids. Brother Happy likes to rope, roughhouse and goof off. But sister Buffy wants none of it. She’s embarrassed by her clown family, and wants to be different. Willie has a sad but true secret, one that threatens to pull the family apart. Can Buffy find a way to follow her dreams? Will the family stick together? Come and join the fun and see! Charlotte’s Web- Saturday, July 20 at 11am and 1pm and Sunday, July 21 at 12:30 and 2:30pm. The beloved childhood classic, based on the book by E.B. White and  re-imagined by acclaimed director Jenny Larson, is a play that will enchant audiences with a story of loyalty and friendship. Wilbur, an affectionate and spirited pig, is valiantly saved by a young girl named Fern from a deadly fate. But after being sent away to live on the Zuckerman farm, Wilbur finds it difficult to adjust without Fern. Wilbur soon befriends some local farm animals, including a kindhearted and clever spider named Charlotte. Unbeknownst to Wilbur, he is being well fed to meet his tragic fate. In an effort to save Wilbur’s life, Charlotte weaves a plan with the help of an unlikely character. This new adaptation captures a warmhearted tale with the help of live music arranged by Emily Marks, captivating puppetry designed by Caroline Reck, video projections by Chris Hatcher, and a stellar cast. Austin Symphony Hartman Foundation “Concerts in the Park” - Sunday, July 21 at 7:30 p.m. In its eleventh summer season, these FREE concerts take place in the Hartman Concert Park in front of the Long Center City Terrace. Each Sunday, a different ensemble of the Austin Symphony will be featured. This Sunday, it will be Woodwinds. Concertgoers are encouraged to bring a picnic dinner and blanket and make it a group outing. FREE Parking is available at One Texas Center, located on Barton Springs Rd. at S. 1st Street. Summer Story Series- Sunday, July 21 at 1pm. Let your imagination loose in the Jones Center galleries during our Summer Story Series. In a 30-minute tour, be guided through our art exhibitions while  our professional storyteller reads from related children’s books. Space is limited, so come early to claim your spot! Central Market North Lamar– Live music and dancing, oh my!  This is a great spot for parents to enjoy music while letting their kids burn some energy on the playground.  There are also ducks to feed in the nearby pond.  Fridays and Saturdays from 6:30- 9:00pm. Central Market, North Lamar Blvd.

Craft Time for Kids- Bring the kids to get crafty. The crafts change weekly and usually are themed for particular holidays or seasons. FREE!! Saturday, 11:00am- 3:00pm. Lakeshore Learning Center, 9828 Great Hills Trail.

Cirque du Steve -Saturday at 10 a.m. What’s the Story Steve? transforms into an improvised circus! Follow the Bearded Lady, the Clown Crew and a host of other circus characters through adventures based on audience suggestions. Join the Move Your Tale troupe onstage to create original characters! Flying Theater Machine: Dinosaurs- Sunday, 2pm. Join the Award-Winning Flying Theater Machine every Sunday at 2pm in July and August as we explore what it was like to be a Dinosaur! Can T-Rex and Triceratops ever get along?  Will the Dino families be able to accept a big purple dinosaur?  What will Maiasaura do when the Ovarapter moves in next door!?!  We don’t know until the show happens, and you can help us.  Feel free to come along in Dinosaur costume we may need your help on stage.
