Friday Family Fun Night: Schave and Reilly- Modern-day versions of Vaudeville’s baggy-pants comedians. Reminiscent of Laurel and Hardy, these two delightful clowns use an original blend of ridiculous dance, slapstick, and juggling to tell stories of life, love, and jubilation. Central Market North LamarLive music, and dancing, oh my!  This is a great spot for parents to enjoy music while letting their kids burn some energy on the playground.  There are also ducks to feed in the nearby pond.  Here is the lineup of FREE entertainment:

  • Friday,  6:30 – 9:00pm The Carper Family brings together three of Austin’s most talented young country and bluegrass singers and pickers: Melissa “Daddy” Carper (vocals, bass), Beth “Mama” Chrisman (vocals, fiddle), and Jenn “Little Sister” Miori (vocals, guitar). Each grew up singing and playing music with her family. By the time they created their new “family band,” each had already led her own band and sat in with some of Austin’s finest musicians. But this particular collaboration blends three-part harmonies into the finest old country, old-time, bluegrass, and swing tunes you will hear today.
  • Saturday, 6:30- 9:00pm Guaranteed to put a thump in your jump. Flyjack is a funky soul tour de force. It’s all funk, all soul, all the time. Funky back beat, thumping bass, guitar licks like a kung fu chop to the soul, organ to make your backbone slip, and three horns to blow back your wig, baby!

Juneteenth Festival-The festivities begin on Friday, June 15 at 6:30 p.m. with a Night of Jazz. The celebration continues Saturday, June 16 at 11:00 am. The barbecue cook-off participants arrive at 8 a.m. Saturday to receive ribs and cook until judging at 1 p.m. At noon, the opening welcome from the Round Rock City Council kicks off the day’s festivities. The entertainment on Saturday includes the headliner Les and the Funk Mob.  There will also be carnival rides, clowns, games, a car show, a health fair, food, retail vendors and much, much more! Father Knows Best Storytime- Here at BookPeople, we think our dads rule, and we bet you do too. So in anticipation of Father’s Day, we are celebrating all the things that make our dads the coolest and most lovable guys around. Sensory Friendly Film:Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted- AMC Theatres (AMC) and the Autism Society have teamed up to bring families affected by autism and other disabilities a special opportunity to enjoy their favorite films in a safe and accepting environment on a monthly basis with the “Sensory Friendly Films” program. In order to provide a more accepting and comfortable setting for this unique audience, the movie auditoriums will have their lights brought up and the sound turned down, families will be able to bring in their own gluten-free, casein-free snacks, and no previews or advertisements will be shown before the movie. Additionally, audience members are welcome to get up and dance, walk, shout or sing – in other words, AMC’s “Silence is Golden®” policy will not be enforced unless the safety of the audience is questioned. Explore the Story: Move to the Beat- Musical styles are defined by their specific tempos, rhythms, and instrumental composition. Toe-tapping, clapping, and dancing can all create a musical beat. The Flying Theatre Machine: Scavenger Hunt-It’s time put on your adventure hats and come with us on a scavenger hunt! In the Hideout Theatre’s new improv show, Scavenger Hunt, we will go on a wild scavenger hunt together to find magical objects. Guided by hidden clues and exciting games, you will help them decide where to go and what they find. They might find a message in a bottle or a buried map that will take them across a desert safari to find imaginary objects like a box of gold or a magic carpet! Our hero will go where ever your imagination takes us: to an island, or even the moon! What other clues and objects will our hero find? Help us discover this in our kid-friendly, audience interactive show on Sundays in May and June at 2 pm at The Hideout Theatre! Tickets: $8. The Hideout Theater, 617 Congress Ave.

Hartman Concert in the Park – In its tenth summer season, these FREE ensemble concerts take place in the Hartman Concert Park in front of the Long Center City Terrace and run on Sunday evenings through August 26th at 7:30 p.m. Each Sunday a different ensemble of the Austin Symphony will be featured.  This Sunday, it will be Woodwinds. Concertgoers are encouraged to bring a picnic dinner and blanket and make it a group outing. Sunday, 7:30pm. Father’s Day in the Park- Austin Symphonic Band celebrates your Dad with this annual concert at the Zilker Hillside Theatre. Marches, patriotic melodies, and other familiar works are the order of the day – selections that will have your Dad’s toe tappin’ – as well as your own! Bring a picnic basket and spread out a blanket under the Pecan trees at the Hillside Theatre. FREE!! Sunday, 7:30- 9:30pm. Zilker Hillside Theatre, Zilker Park.
