The Native Transplants SXSW editionFREE!! Live music and good food, plus a play area for the kiddos! Friday, March 15th at 6pm at the NATY Trailer Yard, 1012 W. Anderson Lane.

Faerie Trail by Starlight – Friday, March 15, from 7 – 9 p.m. Families are invited to tour the “Faerie Trail by Starlight” at Zilker Botanical Garden. Take a magical visit along the woodland faerie trail after dark. Admission to this special event will be $5 per person or $15 per family. Live performances and hot cocoa will be provided. International SXSW Showcase: Austin Welcomes the World – Friday, March 15, from 3 – 7 p.m. Austin Welcomes the World features live music from around the world. Four international bands from will take the stage on Friday, including Pirates Canoe (Kansai, Japan) at 3 p.m., The Beards (Adelaide, SA, Australia) at 4 p.m., Heyerdahl (Oslo, Norway) at 5 p.m., and Bareto (Lima, Peru) at 6 p.m. This South by Southwest sanctioned event is FREE and open to the public. Stop by and visit the ATX Airstream while you’re there. City Hall Plaza, 301 W. 2nd Street, Austin.

Rock the Blacktop! – Friday, March 15th from 10:00am-1:30pm at Blackshear Elementary. Scotty Roo, Groundwork Orchestra, Los Super Avengers, The Spoils, and 5th grader, Alex V. will headline this outdoor, family funday. FREE!! Backshear Elementary School, 1712 E. 11th Street.

Pan Americana Festival –Friday, March 15th and Saturday, March 16th from 4-11pm. Local artists perform alongside international Latino music sensations, with everything from cumbia to funk, reggaeton to Tejano, salsa to rock and roll. Between bands, Latino filmmaking, theatre, dance and visual arts will be showcased. FREE!! Parking is limited, but a free shuttle service will be available to and from parking lots at Sanchez Elementary School, Martin Middle School and Fiesta Gardens. Fairytale Threads – Friday, March 15, from 10 a.m. – 7 p.m. (many items will be 25% off) and Saturday, March 16, from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. (many items will be 50% off).  Shop for baby gear, clothing, furniture, books, videos, and more. FREE and open to the public. 1420 Toro Grande (just off FM 1431), Cedar Park.

in.SX @ in.gredients – Acoustic porch shows on Friday, March 15th and Saturday the 16th from noon til 10pm. FREE!! A bit off the beaten path so parking should be easier. In.gredients, 2610 Manor Road.

Folk Alliance International – Saturday, March 16th from 11am-7pm on the outdoor stage and later on the indoor stage at Threadgill’s World Headquarters. Threadgill’s has food, restrooms and a nice outdoor space. Parking in their lot or in adjacent garages. FREE!! Threadgill’s World Headquarters, 301 W. Riverside Drive.

Spring Break Movie in the Park: Puss in Boots – Friday, March 15 at approximately 7 p.m. Enjoy a FREE screening of Puss in Boots, beginning at dark. Ramble Creek Recording Studio Day Show –  Saturday, March 16th from noon to 7pm in La Patisserie’s backyard. Hosts encourage you to bring a lawn chair and park on Annie, being considerate of the neighbors and driveways. FREE!! La Patisserie, 602 Annie Street West.

Cardboard Boat Building School – Saturday, March 16 at 9 a.m. The 2013 Round Rock Boat Regatta is coming up on Saturday, May 4, so the time to start thinking about building a boat is now. Free Day at Deep Eddy Pool – Saturday, March 16, from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. The Austin Parks and Recreation Department Aquatic Division invites the public to a FREE day at Deep Eddy Pool. This spring break free swim day was designated by Austin City Council resolution. Deep Eddy Pool, 401 Deep Eddy Ave., Austin.

Circus Chickendog: Circus Fairy “Tails”– Saturday, March 16, 2013 at 10:00am. Ladies and gentleman, boys and girls — step right up! The circus is in town…but they are missing their main animal attraction! Join the circus ringmaster as he searches for his new shining star at the local humane society. But who will he choose? Spoiled rotten lions? A clowning macaw? Or the smallest elephant with the biggest heart? Come see this mash up of all your favorite fairy “tails” – with a unique Circus Chickendog twist! Free Photos with Easter Bunny – Saturday, March 16, from 12 p.m. – 6 p.m. (The Bunny will take a 30 minute carrot break from 3 – 3:30 p.m.) Hop into Highland Mall to visit the Easter Bunny in the Spring Garden for Easter Photos! The Easter Bunny will be available for complimentary photos with personal cameras and each child will receive a FREE gift. Highland Mall, Center Court on the lower level near the stairs, 6001 Airport Boulevard, Austin.

Train Day– Saturday, March 16, 2013 from 10:00am- 3:00pm. All aboard for a day of fun at the Bullock Museum. Friday Night Storytime- Enjoy a FREE storytime with the kids on Fridays at 7:30pm. Barnes and Noble, La Frontera Village, 2701 Parker Road Bldg A Suite 700, Round Rock.

Central Market North Lamar– Fridays and Saturdays from 6:30- 9:00p.m. Live music and dancing, oh my!  This is a great spot for parents to enjoy music while letting their kids burn some energy on the playground.  There are also ducks to feed in the nearby pond.  Central Market, North Lamar Blvd.

Craft Time for Kids– Saturday, 11:00am- 3:00p.m. Bring the kids to get crafty. The crafts change weekly and usually are themed for particular holidays or seasons. FREE!! Lakeshore Learning Center, 9828 Great Hills Trail.

Food-Free Family Storytime- Saturday, 10:30a.m. The Round Rock Public Library presents Food-Free Family Storytime, a reading activity that welcomes families with children of all ages to a fun environment that’s safe for individuals affected by food allergies.This interactive program includes a variety of activities such as books, fingerplays, music, movies, and puppets. FREE!!  The Round Rock Public Library, 216 E. BookKids Storytime– Saturday mornings at 11:30a.m. Join the wonderful staff at BookPeople as they entertain your kiddos with stories, crafts, guest storytellers, and sometimes even puppets! FREE!! BookPeople, 603 N. Lamar Blvd.

What’s the Story Steve?– Saturday at 10 a.m. Move Your Tale and ColdTowne Theater collaborate to present this fully improvised theatrical journey through a story of the audience’s making. Featuring Steve the improvising poodle, a portion of the show follows Steve through an original tale. Pay what you wish. Appropriate for audiences of all ages. A return to MYT’s classic event structure, kids will join us on the stage for the entire event, providing sound effects, characters and settings for for every story. Hill Country Galleria Saturday Night Concert Series– The FREE concerts begin at 7:00pm on Saturday night. Hill Country Galleria’s amphitheater, 12700 Hill Country Blvd., Bee Cave.

Flying Theater Machine: Snowball Fight-  Sunday, 2:00pm. Enjoy kid-oriented improv right here in Austin. The audience will help us with suggestions and sound effects, and a few lucky kids will even get to join us on stage. Tickets: $8. The Hideout Theater, 617 Congress Ave.

Whole Foods Kids’ Club –  Sunday, 1:00p.m.Hey kids, stop by and check out what’s going on at Kid’s Club. Each week we have an exciting activity that will let you play with your food plus learn a couple things along the way. FREE!!  Whole Foods Market, 525 N. Lamar.
