Pollyanna Theater is now offering Home School classes!
Classes are available for children in elementary school, middle school, and high school. Reduced rates for siblings are available.
Session I: February 17, 19, 24, 26, March 3, 5, 10, 12, 17, 19, 24, 26
Session II: April 7, 9, 14, 16, 21, 23, 28, 30, May 5, 7, 12, 14
(Second session classes will be offered that build on the skills taught in the first session of classes.)
Pre-Theatre: The Creativity Workshop
Ages 6 – 9
Tuesday & Thursday 10:15 to 11:00 a.m.
This class will invite students to explore their personal creativity while engaging in group activities such as creative drama, theatre games, and sound and motion stories. Activities will focus on using theatre as a creative teaching tool to support many very basic math and language arts skills while providing students with structured time to interact with their peers in a creative setting. Students will explore all of the various ensemble members it takes to make a play successful and will have plenty of opportunities to explore their own creativity. The perfect introductory taste of drama.
Middle School Class:
Junior Theatre – An Introduction
Ages 10 – 13
Tuesday & Thursday 12:00 noon – 1:00 p.m.
Students will explore all of the elements that must come together in a successful theatre production, including a brief look at theatre’s history and cultural development. The course will utilize materials from the very popular and successful curriculum entitled EXPLORE THEATRE by Michael M. O’Hara & Judith S. Sebasta. Students will engage in many creative drama/theatre game activities that support basic theatre concepts in this introductory level course.
High School Class:
Senior Theatre – Basics of Theatre Success
Ages 14 – 17
Tuesday & Thursday 2:00 – 3:15 pm.
Students will investigate theatre from a historical and cultural perspective as well as explore what it means to learn acting and directing skills of their own. The class will watch portions of great performances on video and explore a wide variety of ways theatre artists create their work. The course will dive deeply into the popular and successful curriculum entitled EXPLORE THEATRE by Michael M. O’Hara & Judith A. Sebesta. All students will need to obtain access to the online materials associated with this text in order to complete this class. This is an additional investment of approx. $45 beyond the tuition for this class.

All classes must obtain an enrollment of a minimum of 8 students to make. First Session Registration is now open and will close on February 10. A 30% deposit is required at the time of registration and is refundable if the course does not make. The remaining fees are due in two equal payments on February 24 and March 17.
All classes are taught at Pollyanna Theater’s rehearsal space, which is located at 7031 East US Hwy 290, 78723. We are located on the frontage road of 290 East, just east of Berkman Dr. (approx. one mile east of IH35, across the hwy from Nelson Field).
