I feel like I’ve been living under a rock for the past month. I’ve been on vacation with the family in Europe and have indeed checked out of reality while I was away. While I had every intention of working while traveling, I managed to leave many emails unread, posts unwritten and the to-do list untouched. It was a much-needed break! But now I’m back and ready to face reality again, even with it being 100+ degrees outside which, in itself, makes me want to crawl back under that cool rock and hide a little longer until the first cold front of the season arrives.
While I was away, there was lots going on in the world of boobs- breastfeeding, that is. The month of August is National Breastfeeding Awareness Month and World Breastfeeding Week happened during the week of August 1-7. Tomorrow, August 20, 2010, Central Texas Healthy Mothers and Healthy Babies Coalition is hosting the third annual Keep Austin Breastfeeding event.
Mothers’ Milk Bank at Austin, along with pump companies, maternity stores, and many other retailers and resources will be on-site to help make Austin babies healthier. Participants will also be provided free refreshments and a free “Keep Austin Breastfeeding” t-shirt.
What: Keep Austin Breastfeeding
When: Friday, August 20, 2010
When: 11:00am- 1:00pm
Where: Austin City Hall, 301 W. 2nd Street
Jennifer, our very own LiveMom contributor, will be there so be sure to say hi to her if you see her!
I need a Livemom shirt so people can recognize me! In the absence of the shirt, I will be the one with two lively boys, one with glasses, the other with a black cast on his right arm. We’re a motley crew.
Is that a hint, Jennifer? See the above mention of the to-do list that was untouched….
Will have them soon!!
Wish I had know earlier. Donating blood tomorrow in Gtown at 1 and that is right at nap time. Wish it was in the morning when children wouldn’t be so grumpy! Everyone else have fun!
Breastfeeding Rocks!
