Southern Fried ChickenTomorrow is the 4th of July. What will you be cooking? Will you have a Texas style barbeque going with ribs and brisket? Perhaps something simpler with a festive dessert instead? My personal favorite is to make fried chicken for dinner the night before and then bring along a basket of cold leftover chicken for a picnic before the fireworks. And come on, there’s nothing more American than fried chicken, right? Check out this great recipe and how-to that I found. I have to admit that I’m not great at making fried chicken… it always tastes good, but never looks like it should. If you have any tips to share with me, leave a comment telling me how you do it.

If you want to get the kids involved, have them help out with dessert. I’ve seen so many pound cakes with whipped cream, strawberries and blueberries laid out to make an American flag in my day, so I thought it might be time for something new.
