Oh, summer. As mamas, this time of year we tend to get less sleep, less exercise and not eat as well as we should. Which, inevitably, leads to frazzled nerves, less patience with the kiddos and the dreaded mama guilt. Which is not quite a prescription for summer fun. Here at LiveMom, we challenge you to take some time for yourself this summer, whether that means reading a book while your partner takes the kids to the pool, getting crafty with your kids (instead of using that time to fold laundry or do chores) or getting out and spending time with friends. Whatever it is, you have our permission to take whatever time you can get to recharge.
Since we know you’re busy this summer, we’ll bring you one song each Tuesday that we’ve been loving lately, and let you know about some shows that are coming up, so you can have a reason to escape the kids, the kitchen counters and whatever’s keeping you from getting your summer zen on.
This week, we’re featuring “Coast to Coast”, which is the lead single on The Blank Tapes‘ new album, Vacation. The Blank Tapes is Matt Adams, who hails from Southern California and wrote his newest LP while out on the road. “Coast to Coast” is guaranteed to lower your blood pressure and have you feeling like you are sitting on the beach, watching the waves and enjoying an ocean breeze. Matt and his bandmates are coming to Austin on Sunday, June 9th and will be playing a show at the Mohawk. Doors open at 9 and the show starts at 10. $8/advance, $10 at the door.
