Weekday Events Holiday Edition

LiveMom is taking some time off this holiday season to spend time with family and friends. We’ve rounded up some fun events that will be happening over the next couple of weeks.   • Alamo Kids Camp- Various dates and times. Bring the kids out to Alamo Drafthouse for FREE screenings of their favorite movies! Now playing: The Adventures of Tin Tin, Hugo, Kung Fu Panda 2, and Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events. Locations: Alamo Drafthouse Slaughter (5701 W. Slaughter Lane), Lakeline (14028 N. Hwy 183, Bldg. F) and Villlage (2700 W. Anderson Lane).
  • Blue Genie Art Bazaar – Daily until December 24, from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. All items at the bazaar have been handmade by local and regional artists that are selected through a rigorous jury process. The bazaar features the work of more than 130 artists that offer a wide variety of imaginative and beautiful gifts. You can expect to find paintings, photography, prints, sculptures, jewelry, clothing, accessories, glassworks, ceramics, and more. FREE admission and FREE parking! The Marchesa Hall & Theatre at Lincoln Village, 6226 Middle Fiskville Road, Austin.
  • Armadillo Christmas Bazaar- Runs through December 24th, from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., the 38th Annual Armadillo Christmas Bazaar will delight you with music, entertainment, food and drinks, all while shopping for Christmas presents handmade by over 160 artists. It’s a shopping experience and music festival that is not to be missed! Cost: $7, children 12 and under are free. Palmer Events Center, 900 Barton Springs Road.
  • 4th Annual Holiday Lights and Ice at Omni Barton Creek Resort and Spa-  Through January 6, times vary. Get in the spirit with s’mores, games, twinkling light and so much more! Twinkling Lights…twirling on ice! This year, Austin’s largest outdoor ice rink is twinkling even brighter. Our 4,100 square foot ice rink will be located on our lighted tennis courts, and will be accompanied by a display of 200,000 lights as a part of our 4th Annual “Holiday Lights & Ice” event. A portion of proceeds will be donated to the Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Central & South Texas, benefitting local children in need. Guests can enjoy the skating rink with individual skate session tickets or season passes. Cost: monday- Thursday, $23 adult, $17 child; Friday- Sunday, $26 adult, $19 child; Season Pass, $155 adult/ child. Barton Creek Resort and Spa, 8212 Barton Club Drive.
  • Ice Skating on the Plaza – Daily, through January 11, 2014, from 11 a.m. until 9 p.m. Skate on the rooftop plaza of Whole Foods downtown! Cost: $10 per person, which includes skate rental. Whole Foods, 525 N. Lamar, Austin.
  • Mozart’s Holiday Light Show – Every night, through January 5, 2014. Mozart’s Coffee Roasters offers a FREE 12-minute light show set to music each evening, excluding Christmas. Shows start at the top of each hour: 6 p.m., 7 p.m., 8 p.m., 9 p.m., 10 p.m., 11 p.m., and midnight. 3825 Lake Austin Blvd., Austin.
  • Zilker Holiday Tree – Through December 31, from 6 p.m. to midnight. Take a spin under the tree and buy some treats from one of the onsite vendors. FREE. Zilker Park, 2100 Barton Springs Rd., Austin.
  • Tuba Christmas- Monday, December 23 at Noon. Gather at the Texas State Capitol building to hear Christmas music played  by tubas. FREE!! Texas State Capitol Building, South Steps, 1100 Congress Ave.
  • Rock ‘N Lights (Round Rock)- Runs through December 31st. Hours: Sunday through Thursday from 6-9 p.m. and Friday, Saturday from 5-10p.m. Rock’N Lights Holiday Light Tour is back and bigger and brighter than ever! Come and experience the second annual Rock’N Lights Holiday Light Tour featuring all new displays and the new Christmas Towne at the Old Settlers Association. Rock’N Lights is a drive-through light show that features thousands of sparkling lights through Old Settlers Park from Dec. 2 to Dec. 31. With 2 million lights, the 1.5-mile path is the must-see event of the season. The 2013 show features all new displays and a longer light tunnel.
  • Kitchen Lab Workshop Pretzel Making at Thinkery-  Friday, December 27, 2013 1 pm – 3 pm. Ages 5 & up. Learn what gives rise to pretzel dough and practice your kneading technique. Then, whip up a tasty and healthy dip for your baked snack. Pricing: $20 per parent and child, NOT including admission; $18 per MEMBER parent and child; $12 for every extra child.   • Holiday Family Days at the Blanton- Friday, December 27 and Saturday, December 28 from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.  Celebrate the holidays by traveling to Augsburg, one of Germany’s oldest cities.   • Noon Year’s Eve Party at Round Rock Library- Tuesday, December 31 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The Round Rock Public Library will host a New Year’s party with crafts, a short movie based on a book, and celebrations as we countdown to Noon. Ages 3 and above are welcome to join us to enjoy a New Year’s party. FREE!! Round Rock Public Library, 216 E. Main Street, Round Rock.
  • Wildcard Storytime at BookPeople- Tuesday, December 31 at 10:30 a.m. To close out an amazing year of new books, our storyteller will choose a selection of personal favorites to share. Prepare for anything. Who doesn’t love a surprise? FREE!! BookPeople, 603 N. Lamar Bvd.
  • Noon Year’s Eve Party at Pinballz Arcade-  Tuesday, December 31 from 10:30 a.m. to Noon. Attention Parents and Kids age 12 and under.  Don’t miss out on the fun of celebrating the New Year just because its past your bedtime. Join us for a special “Noon Years Eve” event for fun, games and more!   • New Year’s Eve Party at Austin’s Park- Celebrate New Years Eve early with the kids all day at Austin’s.  All day Tuesday, December 31st from 11am – 9pm bring the family out for free party favors, face painting and balloon drops with great prizes at 2pm and 6pm. Kids can ride the new Fiesta Express Roller Coaster, Samba Balloons, Swings in the Park and Crazy Fire Chief PLUS all other attractions and Unlimited Buffet for Only $10 per person.
