Weekday Events in Austin: October 7-11, 2013

A couple of events happening all week long:

Fall Festival- Monday, October 7, Tuesday, October 8, Wednesday, October 9, Thursday, October 10 from 10:00am – 2:00pm, and Friday, October 11 from 10:00 am– 5:30pm. Admission: $6 per person (2 years old – senior citizen). Included with admission: Hayride, Animals to Visit, Mazes, Rubber Duck Races, Playgrounds, Picnic Areas, Pumpkin Photos, Hay Jumps. For an extra cost: Christmas Cottage and Barn Store, Great Selection of Pumpkins to Buy, and Mini Pumpkin Decorating. Elgin Christmas Tree Farm, 120 Nature’s Way, Elgin.

Harvest the Fall Fun at Sweet Berry Farm – Monday, October 7, Tuesday, October 8, Thursday, October 10 and Friday, October 11 from 8:30 a.m to 5:30 p.m. Stuff your own scarecrow, take a hayride, have the kids find their way through the candy corn maze, ride a barrel train, pick your own flowers, eat homemade ice cream and visit with the goats, horses and chickens. You can also pick up pumpkins, gourds, squash and other decorative items while you are there. FREE admission and activities are individually priced. Sweet Berry Farm, 1801 FM 1980, Marble Falls.

Monday

Thinkery’s Baby Bloomers in the Park – Monday, October 7, from 9 – 11 a.m. During the Austin Children’s Museum’s transition to the Thinkery, storytime will be held in the park, across from the new, red Thinkery building. This Monday’s theme will be bubbles! Enjoy some FREE bubbly fun in Mueller Lake Park. Storytime will be at 9:30 a.m. and then at 10 a.m. Mr. Louis from Armstrong Community Music School will visit for some sing-along fun! Mueller Lake Park, Mueller Central Drive, Austin.

Baby Play Group- Monday, October 7 from 3:30- 4:30pm. Join us every Monday, Wednesday and Friday afternoon for Baby Play Group! We sing songs, play with a parachute and let babies have lots of interactive, social, free-play time. This group is perfect for non-walkers. FREE!! Rockin’ Crafts Grades K-5- Monday,October 7 from 4:30pm- 5:15pm. Elementary students, come explore a new fun craft project every week. Sessions will last 30-45 minutes. FREE!! Round Rock Public Library, 216 E. Main Street, Round Rock.

Tuesday

The Colors of Fall Storytime- Tuesday, October 8 at 10:30 a.m. The colors of fall are brown, red, golden yellow and orange. During the crispiest and coolest time of year, these colorful leaves whirl about decorating our streets and rooftops like seasonal confetti. Today’s storytime is all about these colors and how we love them so! We’ll read Leaves along with other heartwarming stories all in celebration of these seasonal shades. FREE!! BookPeople, 603 N. Tech Tots: Under the Sea- Tuesday, October 8 from 10:30- 11:30am. Registration opens one week in advance. During TechTots we will have digital story time, hands-on technology learning with TechMouse, and a snack time for children ages two to five years old. Parent or caregiver must remain present. FREE!! (Round Rock) Sing-a-long with Staci Gray- Tuesday, October 8 at 10:30am. Come sing and dance in the bubbles with Staci and then enjoy this wonderful indoor playscape at this weekly event! Family Night at Krispy Kreme – Wednesday, October 9, from 6 – 8 p.m. Kids are invited to get a FREE doughnut, which they can frost and sprinkle themselves. Families can also enjoy arts and crafts. Live, Old Time Radio Show- Wednesday, October 9 at 7pm. Join 11 year old Amber and brother Nick, in an interactive family show featuring vintage tunes from the 40s and 50s. Kids of all ages can be a part of the broadcast by dancing, singing along, playing drums and more. Contests, games, prizes as well. Come early and be part of the studio audience sound effects team! (Pflugerville) Play 2 Learn Storytime- Thursday, October 10 from 11:00- 11:30 a.m. Join certified Baby Signs instructor Sarah Kostusiak for a FREE Play 2 Lean Story Time.  She will read, sing & sign with you as well as offer a craft! (Cedar Park) Explorers Club: Super Science- Thursday, October 10, from 3:30- 4:00pm. Each Thursday, kids in grades K-5 meet at 3:30 to explore a set of rotating monthly programs. FREE!! Cedar Park Library, 550 Discovery Blvd.

LEGO® City Fire Mini Model Build!, Thursday, October 10 at 5:00 p.m. In honor of Fire Safety Week, kids are invited to the LEGO® Store to learn how to build a LEGO® Fire Plane and take it home – for FREE! Live Music at Central Market- Thursday, October 10 from 6:30- 9pm. Thrift Set Orchestra aims to play and create music from the 1920′s to 1930′s during the heyday of swing dancing and the Lindy Hop. Friday

(Round Rock) Interactive Storytime- Friday, October 11 at 9:30am for children 18 months and younger, 10:30 a.m. for children older than 18 months. We will read a couple books, sing songs, jam out with musical instruments, play with a parachute AND pop bubbles!!  FREE!! Baby Earth, 106 East Old Settlers Boulevard, Round Rock.

Storytime Art: Bats- Friday, October 11 from 10:45-11:45. Austin is known for it’s bats! We’ll start our story time with a fun bat craft. Then, let’s learn more about these cool creatures and read a couple of bat-themed books. We’ll paint awesome bat magnets to finish our fun! Recommended for ages 3-6. Cost: $12. Reading Dog at Westlake Library- Friday, October 11 from 3:30- 4:30 p.m. Handler Neel with Dog Joey will be at Westbank Library to read with kiddos or visit with them.  Pre-readers and readers are welcome.  No registration is required. FREE!! Westbank Library, 1309 Westbank Drive.

Movie in the Park: The Lorax – Friday, October 11 at 6:30 p.m. Bring the kids and enjoy a FREE family-friendly movie at the Mueller Lake Park outdoor amphitheater! Make yourself comfortable by bringing snacks and blankets, but please no chairs or other equipment that could block the view of other attendees. Feel free to stop by one of the Mueller food eateries to purchase a quick bite to eat. Activities for the kids will start at 6:30 p.m. and the movie will begin at sunset. FREE street parking along Simond Avenue and Mueller Boulevard.
