The Round Rock Public Library’s spring children’s programming season concludes with a puppet show featuring guest performer and former RRPL Youth Services staff member Barbara Vance. Join us for A Jungle Hero, the story of a very selfish crocodile, at one of six free performances this week.

Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland – Monday through Friday, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (Exhibit is open until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.) The Ransom Center celebrates 150 years of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland with an exhibition for the curious and curiouser of all ages. Learn about Lewis Carroll and the real Alice who inspired his story. See one of the few surviving copies of the first edition of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. Discover the rich array of personal and literary references that Carroll incorporated throughout Alice. Explore the surprising transformations of Alice and her story as they have traveled through time and across continents. Follow the White Rabbit’s path through the exhibition, have a tea party, or watch a 1933 paper filmstrip that has been carefully treated by Ransom Center conservators. The Center’s vast collections offer a new look at a story that has delighted generations and inspired artists from Salvador Dalí to Walt Disney. Read about Katey’s experience here. FREE! Baby Play Group at Baby Earth (Round Rock)- 3:30- 4:15 p.m., Join us every Monday at 3:30pm for Baby Play Group!  We sing songs, play with musical instruments and let babies have lots of interactive, social, free-play time.  Since this class is designed for our smallest of customers to socialize, we encourage families with non-mobile, crawling and/or cruising babies to attend.  Older children are welcome to attend our free-time play, dance, music and story time classes. Whole Kids Club: Storytime and Craft- 9:30 a.m., Looking for something fun and free to do with the kids? We’ll be reading a new story each week! Explore Music (Round Rock)- 10:15 a.m. Designed to provide children with unique musical experiences, the 30-minute EXPLORE MUSIC class will incorporate group play and interaction, pre-K skills (sharing, following simple directions, attending-to-task, etc.) and dancing/movement to work on gross/fine motor skills.  While music is highly motivating, it can also have a calming and relaxing effect. Baby Day at The Alamo Drafthouse-  Movies before 2 p.m. The lights are up a bit, the sound is down a bit so moms and dads can head to the movies without the babies even knowing that they were at the movies. Infants are welcome to these shows, and of course, are allowed in for free. Take some time for yourself, pack up the kids, and head out to the Alamo Drafthouse for some much needed entertainment! Discovery! Creating at YouTube Channel- 4:30 p.m., The Discovery hands on program explores all sorts of different topics, including science, literature, technology, and more.  Especially designed for our older kids (third graders and up), come back each week and learn something new! Using YouTube can be fun and entertaining if you know how to get the most out of it. Besides watching cat videos, kids will learn how they can create their own channel, build a playlist of all their favorite videos and share it with their friends. Kids will learn how they can edit video with YouTube’s own video editor and add tags. Kids will learn how they can name their channel and get subscribers along with subscribing to other channels. Hola Hola Storytime (Bee Cave)- 10:30 a.m., Hola, Hola is an early literacy Spanish Program for adult and child to foster a love of the Spanish language and Hispanic Culture. The children’s water conservation presentation starts at 11 a.m. and bring a camera for the equipment rodeo. A Look Ahead: Weekend Events

Batty for BookKids Storytime- Saturday, May 23 at 11:30 a.m. We love nothing more than going to see the bats fly out from underneath the Congress Bridge at dusk. So we’ve decided to have a storytime devoted to our winged, bug eating, nocturnal friends. We’ll read Bats at the Library along with other batty tales just for fun. Austin Bakes for Nepal- Saturday, May 23, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Austin Bakes is a group of bloggers, foodies, and local businesses based in Austin, Texas, who are raising money for relief efforts in Nepal following the devastating earthquake that occurred on April 25, 2015. A city-wide bake sale will occur on Saturday, May 23, with the option to donate online for those who are unable to attend. 100% of all funds raised from the sale and online giving will be donated to the AmeriCares relief efforts in Nepal. Close Assault: 1944- Saturday, May 23 and Sunday, May 24 at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., Remember the true meaning of Memorial Day with this stirring look back at World War II. Close Assault 1944 honors the service and sacrifice of America’s veterans by focusing on the history of the 36th Infantry Division of the Texas Army National Guard during World War II. The free program, now in its eighth year, features members of the Texas Military Forces Living History Detachment exhibiting the uniform and equipment worn by the American GI in the European Theater of the Second World War, as well as those of his German opponent. In addition, the two-day event will provide guests the opportunity to witness firing demonstrations of the most famous U.S. and German small arms of World War II, as well as see everything from tents and radio equipment to GI baseball gloves and mess kits and operational vehicles such as an M4 Sherman Tank, M3 Halftrack and Jeeps. Robotics Class (RSVP)- Sunday, May 24, from 2 – 3:30 p.m., The American Robotics Academy of Austin will be at the library for an intro robotics class for kids ages 8-12. Registration required. FREE! Pflugerville Public Library, 1008 W. Pfluger Street, Pflugerville.

Music Under the Star –  Sunday, May 24, from 4-7:30 p.m., Bring your family, a picnic dinner, and a blanket or chairs to the Bullock Texas State History Museum every Sunday in May to enjoy free music concerts presented by the American Federation of Musicians. All concerts are free, family-friendly and highlight local musical talent. Each concert starts at 4 p.m. in the museum rotunda with performances outside in the Lone Star Plaza beginning at 5 p.m. Doors open at 3:30 p.m. Bullock Texas State History Museum, 1800 Congress Avenue.

Free Admission to the LBJ Library – Monday, May 25, from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. Enjoy FREE admission on Memorial Day! The LBJ Presidential Library, 2313 Red River St., Austin.

Veterans Park Grand Opening and Veterans Monument Dedication (Round Rock)- Monday, May 25, from noon to 2 p.m., Hotdogs and refreshments will be served starting at noon with the Veterans Monument Ceremony and Park Grand Opening to follow at 1pm. The dedication will honor past and present Veterans throughout Central Texas. FREE and open to the public. Veterans Park, 611 Pecan Drive, Round Rock.
