Alamo Kids Camp – Saturday, November 23 and Sunday, November 24. FREE movies for children age 3 and up. Times vary by location and frequently change. Be sure to double check show times before heading out. This weekend you can enjoy Fantastic Mr. Fox (Slaughter Lane), Chicken Run (Alamo Village), and Shrek (Alamo Lakeline).

Breakfast Bytes at UT – Saturday, November 23, from 10 a.m. – noon. Join UT Department of Computer Science lecturer Alison Norman, PhD for a FREE morning workshop for middle and high school students and their parents. Participants will learn how to control programmable Christmas lights. A light breakfast will be served. Big Don Kids’ Show – Saturday, November 23 at 10 a.m. Don Robinson is an award winning Hip Hop musician. He has been involved in the music scene in Austin for 22 years and a member of the Austin Music Hall of Fame. Join him for a FREE show for kids! Strange Brew Lounge Side, 5326 Manchaca Rd, Austin.

East Austin Studio Tour (EAST) – Saturday, November 23 and Sunday, November 24, from 11 a.m. – 6 p.m. EAST is a FREE, self-guided tour that champions the abundance of talent within Austin’s large and wildly diverse creative community. The public is invited to discover new artistic talent, see working studios, learn about artists’ tools, techniques, and inspirations, and support the arts community by building their collections and supporting local businesses. Exhibitions take place in established venues such as galleries, project spaces, theaters, and museums, whose objective is to exhibit visual art or performances. Community Thanksgiving Dinner – Saturday, November 23, from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. A wonderful time for neighbors, friends and family to come together and celebrate the holidays while sharing a meal together. This event is FREE and open to anyone, so be sure and bring the whole family and enjoy live entertainment, great company, and of course great food! Oswaldo A.B. Sleeping Beauty Dreams Storytime – Saturday, November 23 at 11:30 a.m. Paramount Theatre will be at BookPeople for a magically magnificent (not Malificent!), FREE storytime, to offer a preview of their upcoming Sleeping Beauty Dreams show. Head to BookPeople for stories, crafts, and lots of fairytale magic. BookPeople, 603 N. Lamar, Austin.

Upcycle This! Holiday Edition – Saturday, November 23, from 1 – 5 p.m. To celebrate both National Recycling Day in November and the upcoming holidays, the Austin Public Library’s used bookstore Recycled Reads invite you to make gifts and decorations for a green holiday season. Recycled Reads staff will provide instructions to make: plastic bottle flowers, plarn (plastic bag yarn) jewelry, egg carton dreidels, cardboard napkin rings, and cardboard ornaments. The store will have a few supplies available, but would love it if you could bring some plastic bottles (soda bottles), plastic bags, egg cartons, and cardboard. The program is FREE, family friendly, and open to the public. Recycled Reads, 5335 Burnet Rd, Austin.

The Lighting of The Great Tree – Saturday, November 23 at 6 p.m. From noon – 5 p.m., enjoy FREE holiday entertainment, craft activities, face painting, caricature drawings and balloon twisting, near iPic Theaters. At 6 p.m., take in a special performance by local children’s choir Outside Voices, followed by headliner Phil Vassar.  Then, Santa will light the tree and there will be fireworks. Infectious melodies combined with upbeat lyrics make him beloved among pre-schoolers and early-elementary students, who clap, march, jump and dance along to their favorite songs.   • Thanksgivukah in the Hood – Sunday, November 24, from 12-3:30 p.m. Join in a once-in-a-lifetime celebration of Chanukah falling on Thanksgiving! This community Chanukah and Thanksgiving event will feature children’s choirs, live music, kids activities and more. Bring an unwrapped gift for those less fortunate. FREE and open to the community. Central Market, 4001 North Lamar Blvd., Austin.
