Deep Eddy Pool Splash Movie Nights

Survival in Austin during the summer months is made possible with air conditioning and swimming pools. Ok, splash pads, cold beer and margaritas also help, but pools and air conditioning are tops on my list for summer survival in Austin. After swimming recently in another city’s municipal pool, I realized just how lucky we are in Austin to have some really nice swimming pools and splash pads.

Taking a swim in Deep Eddy is listed as one of the activities on the Summer Fun Checklist for the month of July! Each month this summer, kids have a chance to earn prizes at Terra Toys, The Little Gym, Round Rock Express, Zocalo Cafe, Galaxy Cafe and Top Notch. Once 5 items are completed from the checklist each month, they can claim cool prizes from generous local businesses. It’s a great way to keep kiddos active and engaged in the summer months.

Better yet, is giving away weekly prizes to people who share their summer fun photos on Instagram. This week, LiveMom is picking a winner! Snap a photo of your child doing one of the July activities, upload it to Instagram and tag it with #AustinSummerFun by midnight each Thursday. One winner will be picked weekly… this week’s winner will receive a $25 gift card that can be used at either Top Notch, Zocalo or Galaxy Cafe.  For complete rules, click here.

Print off that checklist and grab your bathing suits for a swim at Deep Eddy Pool!

Here are some fun facts about what makes Deep Eddy Pool unique:

  • Built in 1915, it’s the oldest swimming pool in Texas.
  • Deep Eddy stays between a cool 65-75 degrees year-round.
  • The pool has no chlorine- freshwater is pumped in daily from a hand-dug well.
  • Lap swimming lanes and wading areas are available for all types of swimmers.
  • There are shade trees and plenty of grassy areas for spreading out.
