Almost a year ago, I wrote an article here called “The C World: Moms and Cancer”. At the time, I had a friend undergoing treatment for breast cancer. My “problems”, such as the dishwasher breaking, my son’s love of potty words and wishing I didn’t have to plan summer so early, seemed ridiculous, really, when I thought about what these women were going through. How I get grumpy after being sick for more than four days. What it must be like to be scared you might not be around for your children.
I am thrilled to report that one of the moms I interviewed, Renee Sendelbach, had a recent CT scan (computerized tomography) that came back “No Evidence of Disease”, which is commonly referred to as “NED”. She had been diagnosed with Stage IV cancer after undergoing treatment in 2008 as having triple negative breast cancer.
Renee has recently started a new project called Embracing Life, Love and Art. Renee has always been a crafter, so she started an Etsy shop to sell canvas art and Project Sending Love postcards (postcards to make it easy to tell the people we love that we care about them now, instead of waiting for a major event to share our feelings). Renee is donating 10% of canvas sales and 25% of postcard sales to non-profits. Customers can either designate a nonprofit from Renee’s list or a portion of sales will go to Renee’s featured non-profit, which will rotate every three months. She is also open to adding other nonprofits to her list.
To celebrate the launch of this new project, Renee is offering one LiveMom reader a free, custom canvas art piece! You can send Renee your child’s name, a favorite quote or even photos of his or her room to help her design a piece that will fit your home and family well. Please note, custom orders usually take 3-4 weeks to complete. Canvases are 12″ x 12″ and come ready to hang.
To enter, please fill out the secure form below or leave a comment. The contest will end at midnight CST on Friday, March 30th and the winner will be selected by random.org and notified by email. There are no geographic restrictions, although you must be 18 to enter and you can only enter once. Good luck!
