Kick off the holiday season with the Chuy’s Children Giving to Children Parade in downtown Austin at 11am on Saturday, November 28, 2015! The parade starts at the State Capitol at 11th and Congress, moving south on Congress all the way to Cesar Chavez, ending just north of the bridge. Click here for a parade map. The parade lasts about an hour.
The Parade was the inspiration of Chuy’s co-owner Mike Young. In 1987, Chuy’s & KLBJ-FM started an annual toy drive held at the two Chuy’s locations in Austin to benefit the Operation Blue Santa Program. Two years later, Mike decided it was time to raise awareness for the Toy Drive and collect more toys by putting on a Parade. This year will be the 27th Annual Children Giving to Children Parade in Austin for the Operation Blue Santa Program. To date, hundreds of thousands of toys have been donated for the children of Central Texas who otherwise might not see anything under the tree Christmas Morning.
See giant inflatable balloons, festive holiday floats, famous children’s characters, spectacular marching bands, cool classic cars and Santa! At a designated time during the Parade Procession, all units will stop to collect the toys. Santa’s Helpers will line the parade route and help spectators give their toy. All toys will be distributed by the Operation Blue Santa Program to another child just in time for the holidays.
