Help for New Year’s Resolutions

The cycle is the same. Every year we overdo, over-booze and over-eat our way through the holiday season and by the time the new year rings in, we are all ready to start anew – to look and feel like our best selves. And while many resolve to make a big change, commitment and sometimes the results, can be hard to come by.

This year, many Austin businesses are resolving to help you break the perpetual cycle.

So whether you are a “Resolution Keeper” or someone who falls off the “workout” wagon, check out these Austin-based services that can help you re-energize, look and feel your best in 2013:

For those who want to commit:

  • CYC – Known for being more like a party on a bike and less like a workout, this new and invigorating fitness concept will appeal to many. The innovative indoor cycling class burns up to 800 calories per 45 minute class (!) and incorporates dynamic techniques such as swimming, boxing and crunches while cycling  to ensure that the whole body gets a workout. Ride in a dimly lit studio (if you haven’t worked out in a while this is really nice) to adrenaline pumping playlists, helmed by full engaged “cycologists” (that’s what they call their instructors) who lead you through a journey of the mind and the body (the theatrical elements like live drumming, encouragement by instructors, as well as the physical limit pushing have brought many to tears).

From Jan 2-6th CYC Fitness will be offering FREE “Resolution Rides” to the public. Anyone can book a bike online and join as often as they’d like for classes at the studio over those 6 days free of charge. Burning 800 calories each day for six days is sure to jump start anyone’s new year weight loss success.

  • Dancers Shape -  The amazing out-of-the-box workout combines traditional Pilates moves with ballet barre techniques to strengthen the core, tone muscles, improve flexibility and improve posture for beginners to those with advanced experience. Owner Jennifer McCamish, a former Radio City Rockette, created the Dancers Shape approach to share her training and experience from the big stage. Currently one of the most popular fitness trends according toSHAPE, instructors show you how to use your own body weight in tweaked ballet positions to get sleek, sculpted arms & legs (a la Jessica Biel, Jennifer Garner or Heidi Klum). Have that extra glass of eggnog or slice of pie and remain guilt-free as these fun and engaging classes will keep you on track to looking and feeling great in the new year.

AdvertisementFrom Jan 3rd-31st, Dancers Shape will be offering a new challenge for the New Year. Over the course of 4 weeks, take 16 classes, 4 of them being new classes as an extra incentive and receive a $10 gift card as well as the chance to win a month of unlimited, free classes.
