Review and GIVEAWAY: milk + honey spa

milk + honey spa has recently moved and expanded their downtown location. I was invited to come try a Signature Facial, and there was absolutely no way I was going to turn that down.

The last time I visited milk + honey, I was largely pregnant and in desperate need of a massage. The pre-natal massage was heavenly- just what I needed to relieve my swollen body. Months and months have passed now, and I’ve since had that baby who just so happens to be closing in on his first birthday. But I have not been back. How and why does that happen to us mamas? When something is so needed, so essential to keeping ourselves feeling good, healthy, and balanced, why do we put it off or make excuses? No more, I say! Spa day every day!

Check out the mani/ pedi area!

Ok, in reality, I can at least try to go a little more often than once a year.

I was anxious to get into the new location to check it out. Of course, it’s pretty posh. It sits downtown in the Silicon Labs building right across from City Hall on Guadalupe and Cesar Chavez so getting there is a piece of cake.  Parking is also fairly simple as milk + honey will validate your parking in either the City Hall or Amli parking garage.

Ok, so back to the spa…. There are steam showers! And hot tea after a treatment! Plush robes, a dimly lit area to relax in before and after treatments, lovely staff and endless possibilities for making oneself feel better.

This is the waiting area where one can relax before or after treatments.

AdvertisementAnissa was my esthetician, a fellow local mama who has been working on making us mams look and feel gorgeous for fourteen years now! The Signature Facial included a head, neck, should, arms and hands massage… quite possibly my favorite part of the facial. The products used were from Inventive Eco Organic, a local line of skin care products which made the treatment that much better.  I make it a policy to never purchase product when I visit a salon or spa because I have a tendency to accumulate, but I broke down and purchased the Environmental Cleanser as it seemed to help relieve my sinuses as well.

At the end of my hour-long session, I relaxed with a hot cup of tea, took a steam shower, and enjoyed a few minutes of alone time. When I got back home, it was full on mom duty again, but I felt a wee bit regenerated and ready for whatever came my way. I must remember that feeling when I am due for some spa time again but putting it off! Will you help remind me?
